Heramba Chandra College is the best college under CU for BCom.

According to me the college is one of the best college for studying B.Com. Generally the university toppers every year emerges from our college and the college also boasts of a mature and experienced faculty. Teachers are very helpful and friendly and will always be there to help.

The course in my graduation years was 1+1+1 system however in recent times it’s converted into semester system. It’s actually good and a cohesive syllabus structure is built to test all the students. In a year 2 semester i.e 2 exams takes place.

The college doesn’t provide any internship opportunities but every year from January to March for the final year students our college provides placements. Renowned companies such as Wipro,tcs, icici bank, pwc, jet airways, aegis etc comes for campus placement.

Events includes freshers, annual sports, teachers day, students day, Saraswati puja and one 5day carnival organised by the students union. Some seminars are also conducted by the college by inviting some successful professionals in the field.

The fee structure is very much affordable. You can literally complete the whole 3year course in this college by spending a total of about less than ?25000. Which is very cheap in comparison to other colleges and also keeping in mind the class infrastructure provided by the college.

There is no loan opportunities provided by the college however a special subsidised fee structure is provided for economically backward students as well as SC/ST/OBC. To avail that scheme a student has to provide govt documents in the college office.

Generally in terms of extracurricular activity this college is not that good. However our dance team and fashion team generally bags many awards in inter college competition. Though many extracurricular activities are conducted in college but still there’s is a lack of competition within the college.

There is no alumni network of our college but generally if you meet any HCC student outside we have a passion and respect for our batchmates or seniors and generally they are very helpful outside. But officially there’s no alumni network.

The selection process is solely based on merit basis based on class 12th board percentage. Final merit list is displayed on the website of college and then the admission procedure takes place. The Cuttoff marks of this college is generally high. A typical student scoring 85% or above can expect to get admission in B.Com hons (F&A) however other department’a cuttoff marks is generally low.

It’s the best College in south Calcutta for commerce under Calcutta university. And generally the board toppers even the books that the University suggests are written by our college professors so in terms of education you’re good to go.
