An overview of Silicon Institute of Technology

It is a good college in Odisha region. If you can study outside of Odisha then there are way better college than this. It should be treated as your last option. The residential condition is not upto mark.

For the students who are enrolled under Biju Patnaik University of Technology, the curriculum is same for all colleges under BPUT. There is a 50 marks internal exam out of which there are 2 class test of 15 marks each and surprise test, attendance, quiz and assignment of 50 marks each. Then there's an external exam of 100 marks.

Placement and job opportunities are below average. Companies witch package of 3 to 4 lakh comes in majority. Students have to go for that companies. There is no placement in core companies as they don't come in this college. There was no internship provided for our batch.

There are normally annual event, a cultural event and tech fest. These are not of good level. No celebrity has ever come in the college for any event. There is just a speaker and students gather in ground and just dance.

I would say it is not feasible for the facility they are providing. They are charging 1.35 lakh tuition fee only even when there is no placement in core companies. Classrooms are really hot during summer and it becomes difficult to focus in that condition.

There is no scholarship offered by college. 3 to 4 top marking students of each branch arr awarded a scholars club certificate and a 32gb pen drive. I have not heard of any loan facility so I can't say anything about that.

There are some few sports competition that are organised like volleyball, basketball between different colleges. There's an annual sports meet where various races, discus throw are organised in which students can take part.

The hostel fee is 30 thousand excluding any canteen, laundry charge. The rooms have 3 to 4 students living. The food bill is approximately 3000 per month and the food is really terrible. The hostel doesn't have any coolers or AC.

I can't say anything about them as I haven't had any need to take help from alumni. Senior students are helpful after they get to know each after so called introduction and interaction. They can guide in various matters of college.

There is a OJEE form which we have to fill first. Then we have to select preference of our Stream and College from the list given on ojee site. Based on the preference and ranking in JEE mains, candidates are alloted college and stream.

Some faculty are quite good. Some are not. There should be some change in the teaching style so that students can understand the subject better.The focus in this college is to study and get marks. At the end of semester, student have to study on his own through some books or notes.
