The college management could improve. Laboratories and academics can be improved.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is great and relevant enough for cracking the competitive examinations like Gate and other PSU examinations. However, practical applications are not taught to the students. The course is definitely relevant for the ones to create a profession in the core sector.
Placement Experience
Although Electrical is a core stream, the college does not provide ample opportunities for a job in the core sector. Having said that there are many IT companies which visit the campus and by the end of the final year almost the entire batch gets placed in some company or the other. There are many sales and management companies as well which comes for recruitment.
College Events
There is the annual cultural and technical fest of the college wherein many sorts of events are held. The technical fest, Avenir, is one of the best in the city. Sports tournaments are also held in the college which includes the football, cricket, volleyball and carrom tournaments.
Fee Structure And Facilities
You have to pay an admission fee which includes the fees of the first sem also. The fees are taken semester wise. Per sem, the fees are about 40k. Apart from the semester fees, there is also an exam fee of 1200 which needs to be paid before the semester exams to the University.
Fees and Financial Aid
I have not availed any scholarship but our college provides assistance to economically backward classes. Many of my classmates had to pay only 1200 for every sem.
Campus Life
The campus life is great. The gender diversity ratio is about 1:6 (girl: boy). Influence of political party is almost nill. The economic status of the students is varied and it does not create any rift among the students. Clubs for robotics are there which hosts annual competitions during the tech fests. There are occasional debate and quiz competitions held in different fests of streams and overall college fest.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network isn't strong enough for our department but it is quite great for the other departments like ECE and IT.
Admission
After giving the wbjee exam, the counselling process starts by the end of May. There are three rounds of counselling and based on your rank you get allotted colleges. For electrical stream in Nsec, you need to have a rank in between 15-22k. There is also a management quorum wherein students can get admission after paying the management fees.
Faculty
In terms of faculty, the professors are good and have enough knowledge. However, they often demotivate you. Only a handful of students get guidance from them. Some of them do help you out but most of them think you don't know anything and can't do anything. Look out for the good ones and they will guide you well. The Head of The Department is a knowledgeable person.
