Remarks

It is a good college compared to other private/govt Institutes where placement is bad. The college is located in city so reaching college is not difficult. However, the education quality is bad in the college.

Course Curriculum Overview

2

Course Curriculum is set by MAKAUT (formerly known as WBUT). The syllabus is set for every semester a month before start of semester and the chapters/topics to be covered are given in their site. The curriculum in Computer Science is not upto industry standards. Although the subjects cover rhe basic knowledge that an engineering student should get but the topics are quite old and new topics that are required in industry are seldom covered. Exam is conducted towards the end of a semester. The university conducts exam and set the papers. The students take the exam in their respective colleges following a predetermined schedule (set by university).

Placement Experience

4

Placements are not bad. Many people get placed in service sector IT companies like TCS. There are other companies also that visit the college however theur intake would be low. More than half the eligible students surely get placed. The average CTC is 4 lakhs. No internships provided.

College Events

2.5

Annual cultural fest called Anakhronos. Generally a two day event. Consists of fashion shows, dance performances and some reknown music band performance. Annual techfest called Edge, where students present innovative creations like Robotics. Games are also held like Badminton, Carrom, etc. Other than that departments conduct an annual meet (CS dept conducts CSE United). In these events, alumni will be invited. Students may perform dance, song, poems. Also professors perform at times. Note that the organising committee for these event asks for money from students who wish to attend these. Many professors also ask the students to pay the money.

Fee Structure And Facilities

I think its feasible if your admission is through WBJEE - the state engineering entrance exam (40k per sem). However, if admission is through Techno India University exam, then it'll be quite exoensive (last I heard it was around a lakh per sem)

Fees and Financial Aid

Tuition fee waiver is available for students coming from poor background. However I don't have an idea how to avail that. There is no scholarship that I know of that is being provided by the college.

Campus Life

3

Chemistry lab is adequate for conducting the experiments. The electronic/electrical experiments are generally carried out by students in groups of 3-4. The mechanical lab is vast and full of equipments. There is a very small ground to play sports, almost half the length of a football field. That is also not fully available as some space is occupied by school buses. The same ground is used fir cricket/football/badminton depending upon the students preference. There is no timing, its solely first come first occupy. There is a common room that has carrom board and chess board.

Hostel Facilities

3

There is no hostel in this college. People either stay in PG in nearby localities or take some house on rent. Neither for boys nor girls. There is no provision of staying in college premises. There is a canteen in college though.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni can be reached through email id that college keeps. However, there is no network created by the college. I believe alumni visit the department meets and annual events and interested students can meet them on those occasions.

Admission

I gave WBJEE state engineering entrance exam in 2011 and got 5756 rank. Then I went for Counselling (held in Yuva Bharati Krirangan). There stydents were being called according to their rank. I went there and was asked to choose my preferred college and stream. I chose Techno India, saltlake and Computer Science. Since seats for General category were empty, I got a seat.

Faculty

2

The faculty of some branches like Electronics & Communication are good and well educated. However Computer Science faculties aren't well behaved. The faculties make fun of students in lab exams when they fail to answer the questions satisfactorily. Also any deadline in submissions are greeted by faculties with a lot of mockery and harsh words. They hardly care whether the students take any interest in what they are teaching and only wait for internals/practicals to bash the students whom they dislike. So all in all, it is better for students that they study on their own rather than relying on faculties. Ofcourse not everyone faces the wrath of these professors, however some do.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

It's my decision from class 12 that I will do civil engineering, so I chose the civil branch, the course curriculum is well and the teaching level is good but the main problem is lab, there is very limited classes for lab, so I think they should improve there.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
