Remarks
Positives: Seniors, memories, less pressure, No Uniforms, few teachers, Good Canteen. Negatives: Bad hostel facility for boys, faculties with just degrees, Campus Area, lack of Industry exposure, No internships by college, lack of Non-It companies in placements.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course Curriculum is updated frequently, although is less practical oriented. Industry exposure is minimum. Exams per semester are divided into three phases for theory papers. The first two are internals of 30 marks each which weigh a compressed total of 15 in the 100 of each subject. Third phase is the end semester examinations conducted for 70 marks. The rest 15 is on overall class performance. Practical exams are conducted for 100 marks just before the end semester examinations.
Placement Experience
Placements here are mostly ruled by IT companies. TCS, Wipro, Infosys are the major recruiters. If you're in IT, CSE, or ECE, just getting placed shouldn't be a problem. However if you've always been a part of the crowd, expect no more than 4 lpa. Few companies which offer a decent package, like Byju's, are also a hope, but sky is the limit if you work hard. On Internship, I would say college plays no role in it. You can get it if you can on your own. Close to zero Industry exposure.
College Events
Events are hosted almost every year. Techfest and Eclesia are two major of them. You get pretty good opportunity to show your skills, in almost any field and extra curricular activities. Clubs are here for your support in ECA.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Feasible. Around INR 45000 to 50000 a semester for B.tech isn't too much, atleast relative to other universities. If you have a TFW certificate and you're a resident of West Bengal, you can get a degree for practically NIL fees.
Fees and Financial Aid
You're provided with a scholarship if you're below poverty line, i.e. you've a TFW certificate and you're a resident of West Bengal. It reduces your fees to practically NIL. There are no LOAN facilities offered by the college that I know of.
Campus Life
Labs are above average, We have few sports fields. Sports clubs have all major sports team. Archery, shotput, Shooting are also available. For ECAs, Drama club is pretty active. We also have photography, painting, fashion and writing clubs for creative activities. Eclesia is a major fest to showoff all your extra skills.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumini network is average, I'd say. We have had a GATE rank 1 last year (2019) from Biotechnology. An alumini was part of the CHANDRAYAN programme in ISRO. Seniors are quite helpful. However beware of seniors looking for high GPA students for recruitment in student council. Some bad politics runs here.
Admission
I took WBJEE entrance test, which ranked me 3500. After completing the counselling rounds and verification of documents I got the preferred stream which I applied for, i.e. Electronics and Communication. After making a payment of INR 72,000 which includes the semester fees of first semester, I was officially a student of the University.
Faculty
Faculties have degrees in files and papers/notes in hand. However most of them lack expertise in the subject barring a few. Some of them have a really good grasp on the subject and you can benifit from them if you want, but overall I'd rate our faculty below average.
