Remarks

IISER Pune is perfect option those who want to choose research as their career and life. IISER Pune has much facilities in basic science research professors are very much supportive also. The negative thing is about the fee hike. The fee is increasing continuously.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course is more focusing on research in pure science. You have to study physics, chemistry, biology and maths as compulsory. You can select courses from 3rd year onwards. Entrance exam carries 15 questions each from physics, chemistry, biology and maths.

Placement Experience

3

Most students do PhD in their respective field. They choose to continue their research. Most of the students are doing their PhD in European countries. Only less fraction of students are trying for jobs after the BS-MS.

College Events

4

IISER pune celebrates national days and cultural days. We celebrate independence day proudly in campus. We also celebrate republic day. We have college fest 'Karavan' in October. We also celebrate cultural fests like onam, holi, diwali, dussera etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is feasible compared to other colleges having same facilities. But now a days fee is increasing in a great rate.If you have a scholarship like inspire or kvpy, then it is fine maintain your expenses.

Fees and Financial Aid

You can apply for inspire scholarship if you are belongs to top 1 percentage of your respective state boards.the scholarship amount is sixty thousand per annum. If you are a kvpy fellow, you will get kvpy scholarship through out the course period.

Campus Life

4.5

There is a lot of extra curricular activities in iiser Pune for sports, we have a cricket ground, football ground, volleyball court, basketball court, tennis court etc. There is a sports meet between iisers in each year. We also have lots of clubs like disha, spicmacay, kaleidoscope, literary etc to promote students.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel facilities are much good. We have 24×7 faster wifi, water (hot and cold), 2 beded rooms etc. The rooms are not crowded.one room carries only two persons. The only problem is with delay in problem solving by hostel management.

Alumni/Alumna

The college is established only eleven years ago.so the alumni is not strong.they are still students doing their PhD and postdoctoral.anyway they are giving us a guide about PhD admissions.they are helpful in that way.

Admission

IISER aptitude test. I wrote the exam after clearing my 12th board exam. Those who have cut off marks can apply for iiser aptitude test. kvpy, jee advanced are another options to enter IISER. Students have to select science stream in higher secondary education for writing these exams.

Faculty

4.5

The faculties are highly qualified and supportive. Faculties are doing their research in their respective discipline in IISER and they have vast knowledge in the respective areas. Faculties also provide an idea about serious research in pure science.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose Biotechnology because it is a multidisciplinary field. We get to study not only topics related to biotechnology but also biochemistry, bio physics, bio informatics, bio statistics, etc. Mostly everything that is essential for future exams is taught during the span of 3 years. The topics of the units are taught in depth but the questions asked during exams are comparatively easy as to what all we studied. The frequency of the exam is, 1 internal exam which consists of both mcqs and written exam, the semester exam for each semester and practical exams for each subject. If u have studied then you will be able to attempt the questions.

Placement Experience:

My college gives campus placement placement opportunities typically after 4th semester, which is the 2nd half of the 2nd year. As my college has a partnership with IBM so the standards of campus placement go right up as the placement depends on the curriculum performance of the student so can't really say much for this. If saying as a stalemate, getting a placement is basically confirmed if the student maintains his/her CGPA of 6-7, which shows the consistent of the student in their field.
