Overall, it is perfect for those students who want a degree but also want to do another course or are interested in cracking competitive exams in the near future. The college gives us immense time to focus on other stuff as well.
Course Curriculum Overview
The BA course has 3 specializations: economics, English, and psychology whereas the BCom course has 4 specializations: costing, marketing, banking&finance, and entrepreneurship. We get to choose our specialization in the second year. The college also provides and honors degree which we can opt for in the second year. The college also provided liberal art courses that we can opt for. There are many activities and fests that keep going on in college.
Placement Experience
Deloitte keeps visiting our college for placement drives and various other activities like the induction program. Internships are provided to the students in the third year.
College Events
Symagine is our college's fest. It happens in the month of December. In December 2020, we had bands like when chai met toast,sabali that visited our college. Even stand up comedian Samay Raina visited our college. Since we share a campus with SSE we also can enjoy their fest which happens in January.
Fee Structure And Facilities
For BCom, the fees are under 20k and for BA it's under 25k. We have to pay extra for honors degree and liberal arts courses if interested. I think the fee structure is very feasible. It is a semi-private autonomous college under the Pune university hence the fees are low compared to other symbiosis colleges.
Fees and Financial Aid
The scholarship is available to some people but since the fees are very low it's hard to get a scholarship. Mostly, people, reserved class Maharashtrians may get scholarships.
Campus Life
The college has a lot of international students. There are a lot of students from the Middle East and African countries. A lot of students come from South Korea as well. The gender ratio is almost equal. The college is pretty liberal. People can be who they are. Attendance is not too strict and hence people can focus on competitive exams or other courses that they are interested in.
Alumni/Alumna
The college seniors are pretty good. There is no such thing as a senior-junior gap. You can approach any senior for help.
Admission
Symbiosis college of arts and commerce comes under Pune university. It is the symbiosis only college which does not fall under the Symbiosis international deemed university. The college shares its campus with Symbiosis school of economics, symbiosis institute of health science and various other course institutes that fall under symbiosis international. The admission is done on the basis of the merit list, Class 12 board percentage. By the last merit list, a percentage goes as low as 85% for BA and 80% for BCom
Faculty
The faculty is pretty good. The teachers are all very qualified and have great knowledge of their respective subjects. BA also provided an option between French and Hindi for the first year. In the second year, we get to choose our specialization and can even choose to get an honors degree. The college also provided an ACCA degree.
