Course Curriculum Overview

4

I was always intretsed in doing b com with accounting and finance and I landed up choosing Banking and Finance as it was the best fit for my intrests. The academic curriculum is well designed for the real world applications. At the end of every year a feedback form is rolled out rating the entire subject cirrculum and the responses are seriously recored. Subject curriculum is changed mandatorily every 3 years. The only scope of improvement is some of the teachers are hesistant to adapt to new changing methods. End sems (externals) are twice a year wheras internals are quite frequent.

Internships Opportunities

3

Not much companies come for internships. Some of the opportunities include EY, AB and ACA global. They look for accounting and finance assosciates, graduate trainee, assistant etc. An intresting oppotunity is Delloite GSM (Graduate School Maverick) where students are given case studies and present their solutions.

Placement Experience

5

As soon as students enter their final year of study i.e, third year they become eligible to sit for placements. Some of the big names of the companies visited this year are Delloite, EY, EY India, Tata Motors,BNY, TresVista etc. The highest package is 22LPA and the average is 4.5 LPA.Not all the students sit for the placements, around 70% of the students get placed. I am also placed through Symbiosis.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees for normal bcom is around 40,000 (which is much cheaper for a college like Symbiosis) but if you take honours its 50,000. Also the fees is also structured according to the specializations you choose. Like the fees for banking and finance specialiation is slight higher than other specializations. If you opt for b com with acca or b com with cima its around 175000. In our first year we had to choose between buisness computing and mathematics as our additional subject and if you chosse buinsess computing over maths its 10,000 more.

Campus Life

5

My expirence at Symbiosis is nothing short of exceptional. The vibrant campus culture, dynamics student clubs create a well rounded learing environment. Infrastructure is one thing, Symbiosis is working on. The college hosts a variety of annual cultural and tech fests fostering creativity and innovation among students. The events help students with a platform to showcase their skills, network and enjoy campus life, beyond academics. The college library is well equiped with the vast collection of books, research journals and digital resources. Symbiosis ensures that students have access to mordern learing fascilties including smart classrooms equipped with projectorsn audio- visual aids and Wifi equipped classrooms to support an interactive learning expirence. Well equipped seminar halls and auditoriums to host guest lectures, corporate talks and academic discussions. The college actively promotes sports and fitness offering dedicated sporting rooms for chess, table tennis etc.

Admission

When selecting a college for B com hons, I prioritized academic excellence, industry exposure, faculty expertise and placement opportunities. After thorough research and comparisons, Symbiosis college of arts and Commerce, emerged as the best fit for me due to its strong reputation, affordibilty ,expirenced faculty, and a well structured curriculum, that balances theoritical and practical learning. Unlike other colleges admisssion procedure in Symbiosis is not rigorous, its based on your 12th percentage and considers all boards ( including your state boards)

Faculty

4

The faculty is Symbiosis is quite approachable, as we have a good mix of young and expirenced teachers. Studnets can walk freely into the staffrooms whenever they have a doubt, OCs have the access of the entire college, also the staff at Symbiosis is quite friendly. Some of the teachers I liked are Shekhar Sir, Neelofar Maam etc as they have an excellent teaching style and their innovative teaching methods to teach complex topics. Some of the external faculty may bother you for the attendance, non submission of assignmnets, etc. Symbiosis is strict for the internal assignments, there is no retest for the internal assignments. End sems are symbiosis are taken lightly as they are only for 30 marks, as majour portion of academics are constituted by internals. End sems (externals) can be cleared by studying a week prior or too.

Interview Experience

4

No, the admission for Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce is solely based on your 12th percentage. For some cources like Bcom with CIMA, Buisness developement we have interviews. Interview questions are very basic like why you want to join this college, basics of stock market, what is a bull and a bear market etc. Conversion ratio is great, almost all the students get through the interviews. There is no written test or group discussions as of 2025.

Night Life

4

Symbiosis College od arts and commerce located in Pune, a city known for its vibrant night life, student friendly cafes and safe environment. With the campus itself follows a structured schedule with closing time for faculties, students have a plenty of options to unwind, explore and socialize after the classes. Gym and spots complex is open till 9pm, Library open till 6 pm ( extended during exams),hostel timmings are 10:30, for everyone ensuring student safety. Some of the famous student hangout spots are FC road (10 mins from college) is the ultimate hangout street, lined with cafes, bookstores, and street food stalls. Goodluck Cafe- is a iconic spot for tea and snacks, Vetal tekdi (15 mins from college) is a palce to trek.

At TCSC placements are quite good as anyone. Even the SOBO colleges and Mithibai don't have placements as good as us. So this is why I always dreamt of studying here because since last 6-7 years, Thakur College placements have gone better and higher.

The good thing is that the college was not strict and was never forcing us to study rather it was seeing to it that it gave us proper advice and help us reach more towards my career goal. The bad part would be there were may staff which was very dull and was not kind, and no importance was given to correct their behaviour although it was evident by all.
