Remarks
The college is really good in terms of faculty and academics. Only downside would be the location. It is a bit far away from the main part of the city and there are no Shopping malls, or departmental stores or a good cinema hall nearby. Students who live in hostels have to travel a lot to find recreational spots. Also the roads around the college are very dirty and not properly maintained.
Course Curriculum Overview
The Course curriculum is well balanced and a brief knowledge of all departments are taught in the initial few semesters and then only the subjects that are core to the department are taught. Recently the syllabus has been changed , now a fewer and more specific subjects are taught in the initial few semesters.
Placement Experience
Placement in CS/IT is very good, maximum of people are hired by TCS. other companies were mindtree, zycus johnsom, etc. so overall around 80% of eligible student were placed in our time. College do provide the opportunity for internship in 3rd year but its very limited. Even top tier companies like Microsoft, Johnson Johnson visit our college but they pick up only a few students.
College Events
We have an annual Tech fest where a large number of events are held. We also have a cultural department that conducts an annual cultural fests and a large number of students take part in it. As it is an engineering college, the tech fest is really popular and very prestigious for the students.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is feasible but a little bit on the expensive side as it is a Private College. The total average course fee is around Rs 400000. We have 8 semesters and every semester the fees is around Rs 50000.
Fees and Financial Aid
In second year if we can provide a written letter with all the relevant documents showing that the annual income of our family is less that Rs 200000 , the course fee is reduced to half. I have not availed this scholarship but i know many people who have.
Campus Life
The college has a Sports department and a sports team for football, basketball , kabaddi , cricket etc. Also every year an inter departmental sports is held where all the departments are matched up against one another in various sports.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni of some departments like IT/CSE are really active and ofter hold seminars and workshops to help the students and teach new things.The senior students are really helpful and always help us in our projects and mentor us.
Admission
We have to give an Entrance Exam called WBJEE. After the results are published we have to sit for counseling where are suggested all the colleges that we can take admission in based on our score. Around 2 lakh people appear for WBJEE every year and a rank of around 16000 is enough to get addmission in this college.
Faculty
I am from IT department. I can't say much about the faculty of the other departments but the professors, assistant professors , lab assistants are fairly competent and very knowledgeable. Some of them are really friendly and are always eager to help the students , some not that much. The Head of our department is very helpful and always listens to the students queries and tries to help us. Overall the faculty is really good.
