Remarks

The best thing about my College is the quality of theoretical knowledge they impart. I think in relation to the course curriculum, Silicon Institute of Technology provides the best quality of faculties, and highest standard of theoretical knowledge in the State. If a student wishes to pursue post-graduation, then this is the best Graduation College in Odisha. However, the practical knowledge is not at par, amd sometimes, few students have to struggle in order to get a job. Also, the companies visiting the College for placement are mostly IT based. Very few companies from the core sectors visit the campus or conduct pool campus where my College is allowed to participate.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course curriculum is much focused on the theoretical concepts, rather than focusing much time on the practical aspect. If the course is shifted from the present status, and equal weightage is given to theory and practical, then there would be more development of individuals, and students will be all rounders.

Placement Experience

2.5

Placememts are not upto the mark, and can improve a lot. Usually the companies that hire in huge numbers are Wipro, Infosys, Mindtree, etc. Since the students are not properly eeucated on the practical knowledge, less companies prefer to take chances. Acesocloud, Gyaansys, Aptus Data Labs, Black Knight, etc were few of the other companies that visited the campus. Among the pool campus placements/off campus placements were TCS, Citrix, Hitachi, etc.

College Events

3.5

There is one major event, "Noesis", which is the yearly cultural event, which was held for a period of 3 days. Various activites from all grounds are held, including robotics, sports, dance, music, quizzes, softwares game challenges, etc. Cultural events and dance performances also took place. Apart from this, there are minor events like blood donation camps, coding quizzes, etc which happen on monthly basis.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees was feasible when I joined. The yearly fees was 115000, which was comparatively cheaper than other private Colleges in Bhubaneswar. The basic fees was 47500, and the rest was other miscellaneous yearly fees, including Lab charges, library charges, Infrastructure development, etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are no Scholarship plans offered by "College", in normal scenarios. But students can avail the scholarship plans offered by Govt. Of India/Odisha(like Medhabruti) However, in certain cases like: 1. If sudden death of one/both parents of the student 2. Financially challenged Student, The College offers very nominal scholarship amount, which would hardly balance anything, nor would it reduce much burden.

Campus Life

2.5

Labs are well equipped with a lot of latest softwares, with lab assistants well knowledgeable about the matter. People from both genders tale part in sports equally, and enjoy the sports. The cultural society is very active, and organises small events every one/two months. Silicon gives high value to gender equality amd sexual tolerance.

Hostel Facilities

4

The rooms are clean. Usually the rooms are on 3 people sharing basis, and sometimes 2/4. There are 2 boys' hostels and 1 girls' hostel. Most of the time, it accomodates most of the students, and the remaining students are usually local residents. Few students opt for Flats in the nearby areas, which cost approx. 7000 per person.

Alumni/Alumna

The Alumni "network" is very weak, in regards that there is no official hub. But if one finds an alumnus and contacts him/her, then they surely offer help to the best of their capabilities. The alumni were all in good companies, with good position and packages, and when I had contacted two of them, there were more than happy that I had contacted them and helped me.

Admission

After the results of Jee Mains comes, we are allowed to choose different Colleges based on our score. If one's score satisfies the score range of a College, then the systems locks that College, and the student can appear in that College on the designated date, with propee requested documents.

Faculty

5

The faculties are highly knowledgeable and can guide a student throughout her College days with different matters, relating to studies, personal and future. The faculties are always eager to help students with their problems.

I would rate the placements at my college as 3 out of 5. Students usually become eligible for campus placements from the sixth or seventh semester, and a few well-known companies do visit the campus every year. The placement cell helps with basic training like resume building and interviews, and many students, especially from IT branches, manage to secure jobs. At the same time, the average salary packages are not very high and top roles are limited, so a lot of students also focus on skill development, off-campus opportunities or higher studies after completing their degree

Students are eligible for placement from their 3rd year onwards. It has been only 2-3 months but I have seen several companies arriving at the college, prominent ones being Flipkar,Deloitte, Xerox, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Microsoft, Dell and several others including startups. There is no accurate data on how many offers have been made this year, but there are rumours that more than 95% of the eligible students have got placements. After getting a degree my plans are if I dont land into a satisfying job then I will start my preparation of the military or start a new business.
