Remarks

No negative comments. I loved my College and I am proud that I was a part of it. The College infrastructure, the canteen which is always the heart of any College is well maintained, hygiene place with lots of different menus. The library is the best place at top of the building. The classrooms are spacious and one. Can concentrate on there studies. The College itself is situated in a peaceful, posh environment. So there is no disturbance. Hostelites can go to chapel area for praying. Reading rooms and places are available everywhere. You can go and sit in the garden with your friends. Farewell, Convocations are carried out by the College itself which are a great part. I loved going and studying there. My enjoyable 5 years. Faculties also plan for IV trips.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Sophia College is known as one of the best College for Science and Arts in Mumbai. The faculty, the labs, the teaching faculty is good. The exams were well scheduled without any pressure. Students enjoy studying. Batch wise laboratory experiments were carried out without missing any students.

Placement Experience

5

Yes, Job placements are provided. Companies such as Wipro do visit and provide good placements. The programme for BSCIT students provided by Wipro was great. They provided good stipend and also classes were conducted for Master of Software program which was for 4 years and after that you get placed into the company itself with good annual package.

College Events

5

Kaleidoscope is the biggest College fest in Mumbai where students from all South Bombay College participates and Celebrity judges are there to give them the opportunity. The fest goes on for a week. Different activities are carried out during this fest. Else, we have NGOs selling products for charities, etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Feasible. As it is a girls College, the College provides scholarship as well as the fees are very minimal for HSC students, BA and BSC. But for professional courses the fees are as per the Mumbai University circulation. For my course, BSCIT i used to pay around 23k per year which was the same for every Colleges. But if you are a good student they can provide scholarship.

Fees and Financial Aid

Loans were not available for the same. Scholarships were provided to students based on their performance, their studies. In the name of alumni's or ex principal's prizes were provided during prizing ceremony.

Campus Life

5

It's a girl's College till degree. Only PG degrees have boys. You can find students of all kind of religions. Workshops were carried out. Students can participate or they can create workshops for good awareness. every year Student Body Council took place where we used to vote for good Representative for that year.

Hostel Facilities

5

I did not opted for hostel. But as per my hostel friends, the hostel infrastructure and facilities were well taken. The warden was quite good and the discipline was maintained. I don't know what is the fees of the hostel now.

Alumni/Alumna

I will mention few alumni's who are famous. Like Kiran Rao, Rani Mukherjee, Amrita Rao, etc. Many great alumni's family still donate or renovate labs, classrooms, etc. Senior students are helpful. There is an aura of well-being in the College. People are helpful, kind, friendly.

Admission

I got selected in Sophia College after my SSC. I checked my name and it was on the first merit list. After that, the normal admission process took place. I took Science for my HSC and then graduated from their itself.

Faculty

5

There are numerous seminars, counselling, other new courses are carried out. For making learning more enjoyable there were mind map sessions, teachers do not trouble the students with lots of burden. Audio-Visual Rooms help students to interact with teacher and for particular topics teachers take interest in giving good PPT lectures

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose Biotechnology because it is a multidisciplinary field. We get to study not only topics related to biotechnology but also biochemistry, bio physics, bio informatics, bio statistics, etc. Mostly everything that is essential for future exams is taught during the span of 3 years. The topics of the units are taught in depth but the questions asked during exams are comparatively easy as to what all we studied. The frequency of the exam is, 1 internal exam which consists of both mcqs and written exam, the semester exam for each semester and practical exams for each subject. If u have studied then you will be able to attempt the questions.

Placement Experience:

My college gives campus placement placement opportunities typically after 4th semester, which is the 2nd half of the 2nd year. As my college has a partnership with IBM so the standards of campus placement go right up as the placement depends on the curriculum performance of the student so can't really say much for this. If saying as a stalemate, getting a placement is basically confirmed if the student maintains his/her CGPA of 6-7, which shows the consistent of the student in their field.
