Remarks

Murshidabad Medical college and Hospital, Berhampore, commonly known as MsdMCH is the best peripheral medical college there is in West Bengal. It is only a couple of hours away from the city of kolkata.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum is universalized to meet the Medical Councel of India recommendations. There are in total 14 major subjects and 5 minor subjects covered in 9 semesters which takes about 4 and a half year. There are 4 professional exams

Placement Experience

5

All the students studying MBBS are required to do a mandatory intership of 1 year duration. This period is paid, which makes placement at 100%.Stipend is given about 22000 per month. The internship is tough but knowledge gathering.

College Events

5

All the cultural programs of india are celebrated in our college irrespective of it being religious or national. There is a fest, called chronaxie organised every year, which is about a week long.Teachers too actively take in part in our celebrations

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees are very nominal.Per semester fees are around 3500, with 1000rs per exam for the professional examinations.Semester fees are paid 1 or 2 semester at a time, and there is no rigidity regarding fees payment due dates.Examination fees are paid online.

Fees and Financial Aid

College itself doesn't provide any scholarship scheme.Fees are quite low and don't usually require such a scheme. However ours being a government college and thinking about students coming from poor families, there a number of ways they can get monthly or yearly stipends.

Campus Life

5

We are provided with world class classrooms fitted with digital boards, projection and air conditioning.Libraries are fully stacked with alls subject books and is air-conditioned with 2 reading halls. There is a common room which has all latest equipments.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel is quite good.Rooms are rated at only a meagre 12rs per month. The corridors are regularly cleaned and all facilities like drinking water, attached bathrooms, 2 students per room are provided.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are the most helpful. They make our college life worthwhile. Its always a learning possibility from them. Most of the alumni had taken up jobs at this hospital only and they continue to inspire us

Admission

We had to give a basic sciences MCQ based examination called the WBJEE - M, now called NEET - UG.There are total 2500 odd medical seats every year.Among those qualified, a provisional list is prepared based on rank and then counselled.

Faculty

4.5

All the faculty, be it professors, assistant professors, associate professors or demonstrators are all highly qualified doctors. They take time out of their busy schedules to teach us and they do that job well.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is completely based on NMC new guidelines. Along with the theory classes where we know the structure and their working in dissection we actually see them on cadaver . Lectures should be more interesting as it's get boring to literally listen the concepts for first time like a story and at the end we forget everything

Course Curriculum Overview:

Medical field is a really good field in my opinion to serve humankind and learn about science of nature and life!the curriculum is a little overpaced and there are 19 subjects which are taught in a timespan of 4.5 years which is a bit hectic! There are 4 professional exams and 9 semesters which have pretty good difficulty and assess our skills and education. We have regular examinations in around 4-5 months each. Only thing id like to change in the curriculum is better assessment of many topics which are taught pretty well but aren't examined much leading us to waste our time in focussing on them.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well, mbbs is very hard and long term process. You will be bored in 1st year because you cant get real clinical cases. But in Final year, 3rd Prof Part 2, you will get huge pressure. Because there are total 11 subjects, you should study in final year. It is a great burden for all. I'm not satisfied with Nmc curriculum. They are not thinking about students. They are implement their rules in chilled ac room. But they don't know the real scenarios.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is quite planned and great and has a lot of advantages in having a clinical and learning diagnostic approach to various diseases. One area where the curriculum can improve is by having more practical classes rather than theoretical classes. The exams are quite difficult but are quite planned to make you understand the clinician and the passing percentage is 50 percent.
