Remarks
It is good for academic purpose. Like no other college teaches as much as Silicon does but it should focus on other areas too like research, industrial collaborations, paid internships and activity centre for students all round development. There are meritorious students here but the opportunities they get here is less.
Course Curriculum Overview
The college is purely focused on academics, there is no compromise on academics. Labs are very frequent upto 6th semester. There is less focus on research and more on academic part. Hackathon culture is high here.
Placement Experience
Placements and Job opportunities are moderate here. The major recruiters are Infosys and Wipro. Internship culture started from this year itself, some students got paid internships at ValueLabs. Campus placements just offer 3. 5 to 4. 5LPA. But some meritorious students here also bagged internships at Amazon and Mindfire by their own hardwork in offcampus round.
College Events
The main event of college is its techfest i. e Noesis. It has huge participation from our college and other near by college too. It is followed by cultural fest known as Zygon. Other events are Cultural Night, Rhythmnova and Consonance which are organised for music and dance kind of talents. Other than that ISTE students chapter organises technical and management events like CodeClash, Ahora and Techometer.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure is the main thing which attracts the students to take admission here. Like it is comparatively lower than near by colleges who charge a big sum of money. Fee structure is quite feasible.
Fees and Financial Aid
There is no scholarship for out of state people at the time of admission but if you are resident of odisha and performed well in your boards you will be given some relaxation in fees. Apart from that if you top in your branch then college offers you scholarship and pendrive as a reward.
Campus Life
Labs are too hectic - there is 2 Lab period of 100mins in total. Sports culture is great here College organises Silicon Cup which comprises of events like intercollege Basketball, Football and Cricket. Despite of having small field our students keep winning tournaments outside in Cricket and Football. Annual Sports Day is also organised
Hostel Facilities
We have two hostels here for boys and one for girl. There is no AC rooms but it is good also as it make you realise the struggle of student life. Hostel rooms are spacious but maintaince part isn't that good. Boys hostel I is old so it's condition isn't that sound but Boys Hostel II is quite nice with new bathrooms and spacious balconies.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumini network is in its building state. It is under construction. However, college calls different alumini for talks to inspire students time and again. Alumni network should be made more strong which will help students to prosper.
Admission
I appeared in JEE Mains whose score is reflected in Odisha JEE - OJEE merit list. I applied for OJEE and then uploaded the choice of my colleges priority wise and finally got ECE in Silicon Institute of Technology.
Faculty
Some faculties are highly qualified and great in their profession. At the same time some are unable to express their knowledge. Overall there is moderate set of faculties and at the end it depends on the hardwork of students.
