Remarks
It was an average college with not much expectations on academics or research but campusing was good and that is a pro. Location and facilities is con. Faculty is average. non availabity of hostel is con.
Course Curriculum Overview
I don't think it was very research orientated. it was more to complete the course and doesn't matter if you learn or not. I think we lack the curriculum to make the courses research oriented. there were frequent strikes too.
Placement Experience
It was good in terms of placement, atleast one of the good in West Bengal. It did not provide internship or stipend but many companies came for on campus recruitment and overall hiring was good. So it was good from this aspect.
College Events
There were many fests organized. Cultural program organized few were intercollege level and few were for college folks as such lot of events were created to keep students engaged. The cultural program was one of large kindly.
Fee Structure And Facilities
It was 55k per annum except for first year which I think was quite reasonable. I think now engineering college fees has sky rocketed but that was too much at that point of time for middle class family.
Fees and Financial Aid
Loans were provided by banks but don't know of any scholarships as such. The only benefit was that due to good cgpa I opted for computer science instead of it but as such no deduction availed in terms of scholarships.
Campus Life
There was no sport as part of curriculum. Labs were as per schedule. There were fests organized which were nice. Gender ratio was good and no issues related to social constructs like religion, race, caste, gender etc.
Hostel Facilities
No hostels available. I was staying at my home and commuting daily took me close to 1-1. 5 hr daily. Few friends took of and stayed near college. Infrastructure or facility was not great. It was very remote.
Alumni/Alumna
Senior students were very helpful and guided well. Alumni network not much but senior students were generous towards juniors. The initial ragging or intro period was also not torturous. It was mostly friendly chat.
Admission
Through WBJEE and counselling. A list of options are displayed and students can select their choice of college and course. Based on that admission is granted and then students can meet the college respresentative to check details,pay structure and fees.
Faculty
It was average few were good but majority were not so great. They were doing their jobs while students were there just for attendance. However few faculty members were really knowledgeable and helped understanding topics.
