Remarks
It was a nice experience, now when I look back and reflect on it. The college has a very positive vibe, and it really helped me gain a positive outlook on life. The only thing I regret about the college is that the course duration of four years seemed to get over too quickly.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course structure itself was good, but the main problem was lack of good teachers. Also the labs lacked certain instruments, because it was the first batch and all the required facilities were yet to be procured.
Placement Experience
At that time, the IT industry was going through a recession period. Very few companies came to provide placements, among them were TCS, Satyam and Accenture. No core sector companies were to be seen. And no, our college did not provide internship at that time.
College Events
Our college holds a cultural festival called the Mesmerizer, which takes place every year. Popular music artists from all over India come to perform at this event. The event itself is pretty big, and goes on for several days. We also had a technical fest happening every year, but it was not as big and grand as the Mesmerizer.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is standard, as for most of the engineering institutes under the West Bengal University of Technology. It is not expensive. In my time, it was about 17000 INR per semester, which is about 1,50,000 INR for the whole course (excluding books and stationery).
Fees and Financial Aid
I had taken an educational loan, but not from the college. At that time, there were no good scholarship/loan facility being offered by the college that I am aware of. I do not know what facilities are being offered by the college right now.
Campus Life
As far as extracurricular activities are concerned, we had a games room, where male students played carrom and table tennis. We also played football and cricket in the nearby empty land. The gender ratio was about 6:4 or 7:3 (male vs. female).
Alumni/Alumna
There were no senior students, because we were the first batch. I, being a quiet, low-profile student, hardly had any personal level interaction with any of my batchmates. We mostly interacted by exchanging notes or buying and selling books from each other.
Admission
My batch was the first of its course. I saw an ad on the newspaper, applied for it and got selected.I Choose this course because they were asking donation money for the other courses, but not this one because it was the first batch.
Faculty
Some of the faculties were good, and some were not so good. They were quite interested to teach, the students used to get bored and they also bunked classes and important lectures. I was not really aware about the qualifications of the faculties, but instead focused on finishing the course and learn what I could.
