In the end, I would say that if you are getting a chance to study in IIT Kharagpur, don't miss the chance.

The curriculum of my course is very well structured with covering all the major aspects of Ocean Engineering and Naval Architecture, as well as going deep into concepts whenever needed. The course structure is designed so as to promote the interest of students in research areas.

The placement scenario of my college is very good with almost 100% placement. Domestic as well as international offers are also made with the highest package being over 1 crore.

There are various events that are held all around the academic calendar. Events related to sports, technology and social-cultural fields are organised. There are 2 major fests, and separate fests for each department is also organised by students themselves.

The fee structure is not at all expensive when compared with other private institutions of similar ranking. Moreover, there are multiple scholarships that also come into the aid of students. For example, the MCM scholarship takes care of all the tuition fee. Apart from these, educational loans are also provided by various banks in the campus itself.

I have been shortlisted for the MCM (Merit-cum-Means) Scholarship. This scholarship provides the full refund of the tuition fees and 1000 Rs./months additionally. Eligibility for MCM is your CGPA and family income.

One thing which I can say about my college is: if you can think of anything, there will be a student society working in that field. For example, student societies working in the area of language, debates, acting, dramatics are there. Also robotics, space tech, AUV, AGV and drones. Apart from this, dance, music and also culinary arts societies are there.

Very good hostel facilities with mess facilities included. There are no separate fees for the hostels, and it is included in the college fees itself. Though the mess food is not that tasty, it seems edible. Apart from that, the best thing the halls of residence offer is the senior-junior interactions.

The alumni network of my college is extremely strong. The famous alumni include Mr Sundar Pichai, Mr Vinod Gupta, Mr Arvind Kejriwal. These are just examples of the alumni of my college, and most of the alumni are very helpful and also take part in one-on-one students alumni mentorship programs.

To get admission in IIT Kharagpur, I had to clear JEE Mains and then JEE Advanced, both are considered to be one of the toughest exams in the country. Once the rank list was released, counseling procedure began at JOSAA - India (Joint Seat Allocation Authority). I was offered this course based on my rank.

The faculty in my department, as well as entire college, can very easily be accessed by various portals (Moodles, Zimbra web client, ERP) or, if you want to meet the faculty personally, dedicated office hours are also set for each faculty. In other cases, a prior appointment by mail can also be taken easily.
