Remarks

It’s a good college with really good staff and infrastructure and a really good cafeteria. The overall education criterias are all fulfilled. A lot of extra curricular stuff too was right on point. I had a very good time during my studies. Only stark problem is a lack of any mental health expert on campus. It’s very relevant and important in current times.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Yeah they were pretty easy and well structured. They have adopted a lot out of the UK based curriculum so there’s more focus on critical thinking and analysis rather than mugging up raw data. Hence a lot of focus on research rather than studying well established facts and regurgitating them. Exams were twice a year with equal focus on coursework. Schedule was pretty relaxed leaving a lot of time for other stuff as well.

Placement Experience

2.5

Internships were not officially provided. The college had a campus recruitment drive tho. Several big pharmaceutical companies had sent their reps to recruit. The drive went on for a several weeks including three rounds and almost 70 percent of the students got in. Stipend was in the range of 15-30 k per annum

College Events

3.5

In collaboration with Nerul campus several festivals were organised. Cultural fest involved live music, dances, food, fashion shows for the students. Other than that the college kept holding several short management fests to train the student and prepare them for the life ahead.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees are slightly on the expensive side since it’s a private college. No government aid as far as I knew. Fees were about 300k per annum which was quite expensive for most middle class students. It was divided in two semester fees and one registration fees for the whole year

Fees and Financial Aid

The college has a good tie up with a certain nationalised bank. The moment you get done with your admission process, they have a tiny stall set up outside and are willing to assist you with an education loan. They had their approvals basis in place and they invited us for the loan. I wasn’t given a scholarship personally but I know for a fact that SC (scheduled caste) students were reimbursed entire course fees excluding registration fees.

Campus Life

4.5

Lot of extracurricular stuff going on. I was on the football men’s team. Besides there were regular cricket, hockey etc field practices. Gender ratio was pretty decent. In fact more in favour of women over men. Parties used to happen regularly. Initial almost every day and later 1/2 times a week. There was a student rep elected who used to take up and issues the students faced. All in a very favourable climate in general for students of all walks of life.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel wasn’t in the campus, it was a five minutes walk from the university. The rooms were quite tiny but well equipped with an attached toilet. Bathrooms were shared in the boys hostel on every floor. Adequate lighting and windows in every room with a side table and bed, enough storage. Was well worth the price charged and pretty inhabitable.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors were very very helpful. They would often guide us with the course structure, pointing out the useful data. Library in campus was very detailed with most important books held in several copies. Seniors would often meet us there and almost mentor us. Helped me a lot during my degree.

Admission

I got admitted to the college on the basis of my 12th grade marks. Then I had to clear and internal CET set by DY Patil. I passed with a really good score and was provided and informal invitation letter. DY Patil is an extremely reputed university and the staff are very well known for their formidable knowledge. This made me choose DY Patil over other colleges.

Faculty

3.5

Faculty was very knowledgable. They’ve been well curated and are pretty much experts in their field. Most of the staff was doctors and phds teaching the main courses. Even minor courses teaching semi important courses were MSc holders. They all seemed keen and helpful. Lot of them went out of their way to help the students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because I have genuine interest in civil engineering. The faculty student ration is 1:50. Our faculties are well qualified they are master's degree holders in design and structural engineering. Some of them are PhD holders and many of them have done their master's from NIT and IIT. Term exams are scheduled after every 2 months. it is easy to pass because it consists of 30 marks only.
