Thapar University

Very Good atmosphere in terms of hostel.But academic is not so good.People are mostly from Punjab due to reservation.So competition here is not so very high.The best thing about Thapar is society.Due to society the interaction with seniors increases which is very helpful.

Classes are from Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm with break of 2-3 hours in between.There are MST( MID SEM EXAM) and EST(END SEM EXAM) including sessional. Attendance should be above 75 percent but proxy is always a solution.

Placements of Computer and electronic are very good.The average CTC for computer is 8.9 lpa and for electronic is 8.72 lpa. So you can grab a package of 10 lpa if you work hard.There is internship fare every year.

Thapar has a yearly fes named Saturnalia. As a introduction and welcome to juniors Frosh is a society that organises series of events and games so that there is more interaction between senior and juniors.

Thapar is the most expensive college in the India for engineering.About 2000000 for 4 years if you do not get any scholarship.Thapar is increasing its fees and number of students year by year.So it's loosing its name.

Scholarship in first year is given to the students on the basis of JEE main rank.He should be in top 10 percent of their respective branch.50 percent of their tution fees is given back.In 2 nd year they should be in top 10 percent of their respective branch.

Thapar pays a good attention to the sports.Society organises hackatho and gives you a very great experience and as a first year student it motivates you and participate in various events an perform well.

There is a 4 seater room for 1st year.90000 per year including mess fees.Hostels are average and mess food is not so good.Histel life is very good but obviously you cannot study in a room of 4 students.

Alumni network here is very good.Student of Thapar are at high position in some major company.Many of senior students prepare for GATE and civil services.Senior students are very helpful thanks in guiding the juniors

On basis of JEE main rank.My rank was 66163. On the basis of merit list I got ECE branch.The CSE cut off was 98 percentile for students of outside Punjab and for COE cutoff was 95 percentile.So it gives you great opportunity for those who does not perform well in mains.

Faculty is a serious issue in Thapr.Quality of teaching is not upto mark.But it is fine because in every college you have to study by your self.Here teacher are very supportive and encouraging.They ware very helpful.
