College journey

Overall the College is very good and it helps us in transforming form a student to a professional. Along with academics, it helps us take on our hobbies and follow our passion. Thee are a lot of possibilities to explore and find the real taste of our heart. GEC has one of the best campus in the state spreading over a large area. The campus is very eco friendly with large number of trees and greenery all over.

Course curriculum is set by the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. The curriculum well covers all aspects of engineering course and we have good options for electives and honours degree electives. Each sem has 2 internal exams of 20 marks each and 10 marks for assignment. The final examination is of 3 hours for 100 marks. There is no external exam for lab.

We have good placements coming every year from companies like Oracle, Amazon, MRF, TCS, Infosys, Reliance, EY, etc. Placement drive begins at the start of the final year and there would be companies coming throughout the year. Paid internships are also given to students of the pre final year.

We have an annual techno cultural fest Dyuthi which happens every year during the month of February or march. There would be technical and cultural competitions as well as workshops on technical and managerial topics. We also have pro shows at night including music concerts and DJ nights. We additionally celebrate most of the functions like Onam, Christmas, Diwali, Holi, etc. Various activities by different clubs are also conducted very frequently.

The fees structure is very feasible as it is a government college. Per semester an amount of around 5000 would be enough as the tution + exam fees. Concessions are additionally provided to the deserving students based on financial and category basis

The college doesn't directly provide scholarship. But there are enough scholarships from government ( both state and central). The College provides all support in availing those scholarships. Fee concessions and 100% deductions for both tution and hostels are available based on various government schemes. Note to apply for them during the first semester itself.

We have a 400m ground for sports. Also there is a hockey ground and basketball court additional to it. Cricket nets and tt court are also available. We have special gyms for boys and girls. We have college sports teams comprising of boys and girls from different batches who win prizes during the university sports meets. We have numerous clubs for people having different tastes like dance, music, quiz, art, politics, cultural arts, astral space and various technical clubs and societies.

Hostels are very spacious. Generally the rooms are 3-4 sharing. The buildings are good though some are old ones. We have good washrooms and toilets. The fee is very economic and it is equipped with good facilities. Also there are enough pgs and private hostels available near the college. They are also quite economic and good.

We have a strong alumni network. We are a 60 year old college and we have connections from each of the batches till date. Former ISRO chairman Dr Radharishnan and Missile woman of India Tessy Thomas are our alumni. Many of our alumni serve high positions in various companies. They help a lot in the development and infrastructure of the college.

Admission is through the Kerala entrance examination ( KEAM). Based in KEAM score and 12th marks of PCM subjects, a rank list would be published and we can give oru preferred options. Then we have to wait for allotment and after second allotment we have to take admission. There are further options for upgrading to higher preference colleges based on availability during the next few rounds of allotment.

We have very experienced and qualified faculties. They are well trained and have good knowledge in the topics they handle. They are very supportive and helps us advance our skills both technically and academically.
