Remarks
The professors are helpful and friendly. They campus is very clean and green. Cheap and good facilities are available nearby. It’s a good college if you can’t spend 20lac on BTech and can’t go to NIT too.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is fine. University is trying to keep students updated with latest technology. However, during my study the exam pattern was very hectic with 3 examinations per semester. Now, they have changed that to 2 examinations per semester. Also, the grade factor has been increased to 10 from 8.9
Placement Experience
There is a placement drive in GNDU in 7th semester for BTech and job opportunities are plenty. Average package is around 4 lac. Some companies offer job and internships as well and others don’t. If the company you got placed under provides internships then the average stipend is around ?15k.
College Events
Gndu is very good in sports, so many sports events are held. Jashan is held too for dance and singing competitions. Polaris is the name of the tech fest that was held last year. we also have hackathons and if you talk about a department specific event then around 400-500 students are involved. However in Jashan whole university takes part.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure for GDNU is around what you pay for NIT or IIT which is 400000 for 4 years BTech. Its comparatively cheaper than 1600000 of Thapar or other universities. Hostels, though not in good condition, are very cheap, around 20, 000 per year.
Fees and Financial Aid
Scholarship is given to SC/ST/OBC or students from economically weak families. Though discriminatory, but SC students are given full scholarships and they don’t pay anything. General students however have to pay the whole fee. Economically weak can apply but mostly half the fee is waived.
Campus Life
There are many sports activities. You have stadium, grounds and pools. You can do a lot of activities here. The gym is very good. There are nearly same number of girls and boys. There are farewell and freshers parties. The labs are good and new too. There is a lot of diversity with few international students too.
Hostel Facilities
In first year, junior hostel has a room with sharing of 4. In senior year, 2 students share a room. The hostels have only fans and no AC. Conditions are not that good, but all you have to pay is 20000 per year.
Alumni/Alumna
The seniors are very helpful. There is no ragging at all. You can ask seniors for help and they are always there. You can message alumni on social media and they answer too. I once asked for advice on Masters from a senior and he was very helpful. You make friends among seniors very easily in GNDU. They all hangout around the department and you can meet them.
Admission
I gave JEE Mains and after which a rank list was formed. Then during counselling process, students were offered admission according to their ranks and caste categories. There 2-3 counselling depending on your category ( SC/ general etc).
Faculty
The faculty is well qualified with few professors having Phd. They teach well. However, if you take course in some other department, then you have to be very careful not to offend the professor of that department.
