Remarks

The college offers great opportunities to students to explore their talents and express themselves not only in academics, but also in extra curriculars, sports etc.The faculty is also above average and the curriculum is surely planned in such a way so as to prepare you for the industry. Also, the infrastructure is amazing and the campus is buzzing with social life. In no way will you find yourself alone. There are a lot of societies to improve your skills.Overall, a very good college that offers a platform so as to improve yourself

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course structure is amazing and focuses on preparing you for the industry. Moreover, the core subjects of any steam consist not only of theoretical lessons, but also practical classes and tutorial classes in order to improve our grasp on the subject. Yes, the schedule of the classes is quite hectic with classes usually starting from 8 in the morning and ending at about 5 in the evening. Also 2 sets of exams are held, once in the middle of the semester and once at the end (excluding practical examinations) which indeed make it a bit hectic

Placement Experience

3

There is an abundance of placement and internship opportunities offered by the institute. There is a special placement cell which consistently works with the industry and helps the course curriculum to be modified if a change is required. Also, it organisies workshops frequently informing students on what aspects they should improve themselves and how to communicate more effectively with others. Also, there is a lot of emphasis on work culture that a student must understand in order to improve.

College Events

4.5

There are various cultural, technical, management events celebrated in the college. There are 3 computing societies which organize a major event/fest that usually runs over the weekend. Also, there is a society which organises events based on economics and genrral knowledge. Also, there is a society which celebrated food and it organisies a food fest so that the students can relish food from different parts of the world. Also, there is a society which focuses on sustainable development. Moreover, since the college is situated in Punjab, there's I a society which celebrates the culture of Punjab, its dances, folklore, language, people, their livelihoods etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees is more towards the expensive side. The overall cost of an undergraduate program will come out to be close to 20-22 Lacs (including hostel fees, mess fees). The fee for my course costs around 150000 per semester. Also, the college provides an option to pay the fees using debit cards, DD's, online banking etc. There are no additional charges to be paid except the ones mentioned above. The college is very clear in its explanation of the fee details and thus provides transparency in the fee breakdown.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college offers ample scholarships. There are about 5-6 scholarships for Freshers based on their scores in the class 12 exams, their rank in the JEE-MAINS and also scholarships which consider both these factors. Also, there are other scholarships which consider important factors such as your annual income, single parent etc. Moreover, one can also avail student loans. They are provided by certain banks which are well known and are present in the college as well.

Campus Life

4.5

The campus life is amazing and does make a person a much better person when it comes to communication skills. The gender ratio is much better than government engineering college but still, it does need an improvement. There are various extra curricular activities organised by the college including events like singing competitions, dancing competitions, debates,MUN's, coding, robotics, line followers, hackathons etc which encourage the students to improve themselves. Also, the college is not that diverse with students mostly from North India. Also, there is a 50% reservation for students from Punjab which means half of the students are from Punjab (again, their selection criteria is same as that of non -punjab students)

Hostel Facilities

2

Yes, I have opted for a hostel. The cost for an average hostel room is about 50000 per semester. The rooms are mostly sharing with the option of single rooms coming into play only in the 3rd/4th year. The hostels can be best described as average. Yes the rooms are big enough to accommodate more than 1 person. However, they are not of the quality that one would expect after paying a hefty amount. Moreover, in the first year, even the mattresses need to bought by the students on their own. Also, the mess food keeps on degrading and youll surely value home cooked food after coming to college.People also opt for PG's with the cost varying at about 8-10 k per month (including all facilities)

Alumni/Alumna

There is a superb alumini networks and connect with the senior students. There is a society called. SAIC(Students Alumini Interaction Cell) which makes sure that there is the Alumini are highly active in communicating their thoughts with the students and also, they ensure that the alumni guide the students about the skills that the industry expects them to be masters at. Moreover, even the seniors play a very important role in guiding us thourough. There is no sense of fear among the students from their seniors. This makes THAPAR one of the most cool places to enjoy, relax and study.

Admission

I got an average rank of 47,000 in my JEE MAINS. So I had a few private colleges to choose from. What made me choose THAPAR instead of others was that it was specialized in the stream I wanted to choose (Electronics and Computer). Moreover, I know from the beginning that I was interested in Computers and Electronics and I knew it for sure that THAPAR had one of the best faculty for the subjects. I would recommend the college to people who are interested in Computer Science and Electronics. Also, the social life is amazing and great for teenagers. The vicinity near the college offers good restaurants and good food. The food inside the campus is also good with inbuilt messes inside the hostel. So all in all, it is a good place to built your career

Faculty

3.5

The faculty is highly qualified and almost the whole faculty posses a PhD in their respective field of teaching. Also, one of the best things about the faculty here is that assist you not only with the lessons that are taught in the class but also, they assist you with the concepts that are required in the industry. They are exemplary role models and guide us thouroughout the semesters in order to improve ourselves and help us become better in our subjects
