Remarks

It is not just hearsay that IIT-B is the best engineering college in India. It provides opportunities that no college can provide, from studies to sports to music. Even if you are branch-enthusiastic, there is a very solid program to change your bran

Entrance Preview

IIT JEE - 965 Rank, IIT Bombay has the best opportunities for grabs. I had a couple of seniors in the college which majorly influenced my decision.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Voted the best college for Civil Engineering in India, The curriculum was perfect for a future in Civil Engg., but your future is not dependent on what you have to do, it is decided on what you choose to do. If you have an interest in Humanities & Social Sciences, they have top-notch courses for especially Literature & Human Sciences.

Internships Opportunities

We have placement cells mostly comprising of students themselves who call companies to come to our placements & internships. From top consults like BCG, Mckenzie, Bain & Co. to top startups like Snapdeal, Flipkart, Amazon, every company wants to hire students from the top engineering college in India. The stipend is generally very high, even in comparison to other IIT's, which speaks volumes of the caliber of the students of IITB.

Placement Experience

4.5

With 70% placements and the rest going for further studies, 2015 had the highest placements in a decade and will surely increase now. All consults hired candidates with packages above 20 LPA. IT companies like Facebook, Google, etc. offered 70-80 LPA. Start-ups were ready to offer 15 LPA.

College Events

5

IIT-B has the biggest cultural festival in Asia, Mood Indigo, and has a footfall of 40,000 on an average day. But nothing compared to the technical festival, Techfest, the largest among the Indian subcontinent. Both have attracted celebrities excelling in their respective fields from Shahid Kapoor to the late APJ Abdul Kalam.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Being a government college, the fee structure is very feasible with special provisions provided for students selected through reservation quota. A total of around Rs. 60,000 fees were the usual amount with refundable components, i.e. Mess, Security.

Fees and Financial Aid

Various scholarships are provided for by every department individually and on an overall performance basis on a batch-wise selection process. Ample opportunities for exchange programs are also present for all students, again on a performance-wise basis.

Campus Life

5

IIT-B is the best college in India, not just because of its technical structure, but for its programs to promote sports, culture, and social aspects. An uncountable number of workshops are conducted over the year and is among the rare colleges having a gay rights group, Saathi, who have their own seminars. Students are involved in major administration changes in the institute. There is high tolerance to every issue that is present in India, and once you're in the institute, no one cares about where you belong or what your past was. The gender ratio is the only issue that is still to be addressed.

Hostel Facilities

4

The level of hostel facilities has been increasing every year, but it keeps the traditional structures constructed when the institute was setup. Mess food is on a contract basis with various contractors, along with a separate cafeteria in each hostel

Alumni/Alumna

Interactions with alumni are the major reason students choose this college. Seeing the level of careers the alumni have reached motivates students that they can be successful, and hence do. My alumnus is the reason I joined IIT-B.

Exam Structure

Exams were spread out for 1-2 weeks, which gave enough time to prepare for each exam properly. Labs were usually once a week with a maximum of 3 labs a week, so was hectic depending on the courses taken up by the student on an individual basis.

Faculty

4.5

Civil Engg. requires a lot of experience to grab only part of it, and almost every faculty had around 10 years of experience teaching it, and more in the field itself.

I choose this course because I have genuine interest in civil engineering. The faculty student ration is 1:50. Our faculties are well qualified they are master's degree holders in design and structural engineering. Some of them are PhD holders and many of them have done their master's from NIT and IIT. Term exams are scheduled after every 2 months. it is easy to pass because it consists of 30 marks only.
