Good remarks is the quality of education and bad remarks is that the college should have provision for campussing.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is good, the teachers are the best here and they are very co operative but its not enough to provide industry specific knowledge and there is no campussing here which is a con here. This college mainly focusses on the academic aspects there is no provision for placements.
Placement Experience
There is no provision for getting placements directly from the college since they provide only degree course. One can apply from outside after completion of the course.
College Events
Evry year a big fest is held inside the college premises and all the students participate and join it. There is no technical, cultural or management festivals held. Several department wise seminars are also held. Many programs are held like Annual programs etc in the auditorium.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Since it is a government college the fee structure is very minimal and affordable for the undergraduate courses. But the post graduation department is autonomous and the fee for msc in chemistry is 80000 for the full course which i think is very high one. There is no extra charges and there is transparency in the fee breakdown.
Fees and Financial Aid
There is provision for applying for the scholarship offered by the college for the needy students. The eligibility and procedure are updated by the college every year.
Campus Life
This is a girl's college. The campus is big and there are separate buildings for undergraduate and postgraduate departments, there is a ground within the college where annual sports is held and students can chill there in the free periods. The environment of the college is very nice with greenery around. There is no politics no unions and no ragging is faced by anyone.
Hostel Facilities
I didn't opted for hostel but many of my friends stay in the hostel which is just opposite to the college. They are provided with separate rooms and the fee is also very minimal 2000 p.m. The Food quality is not so bad also. The environment of hostel is very good and clean.
Alumni/Alumna
The seniors are very nice and very co operative. There is an alumni association of the college and every year the reunion takes place which is a good opportunity for interaction with the seniors.
Admission
To get admitted in the msc course on needs to clear the entrance exam Which is conducted by Calcutta university. Then based on the merit list one can get the admission. I chose this college because it's a reputed one and also its very near to my house
Faculty
The chemistry department is a good one. There are 8-10 permanent teachers all are PhD in the subject and many guest lecturers are also there. Seminars are held in the department for future exposure and gaining ample of knowledge. But there is no scope of industrial training etc.
