My Review- [AEC], Guwahati

AEC being the 1st government college in the northeast has completed 65 glorious years with students working all over the world. The decoram of college environment is good for mental health as well as studies.

Courses are groomed according to the guidelines of UGC. Structure designed so as to provide all industry-specific knowledge to students under the accreditation of NBA. Lab/workshop are scheduled along with regular class hrs. There are 9 courses available for an undergraduate degree and 4 for MCA/ME.

Internship opportunities are available for students after the completion of 1 year. Training for placement is also scheduled for final and pre-final year students.

Cultural programs are scheduled from time to time. College week is organized in January month after the foundation day which is 25th January. It includes various extracurricular activities along with sports. Elections for students union selection are also held in the month of May.

College total admission fees are feasible and BPL students are given relief of tuition fees. Online as well as bank draft system is available for payment of fees. There is no additional charge needed for secure admission. College provides full transparency in the breakdown of the fees.

Yes, every student gets the opportunity for applying scholarship based on eligibility criteria. Education loan is provided by the college SBI branch.

Deepor beel bird sanctuary, which is situated beside the campus enhances the beauty of the college. Students from all over India especially Northeastern states are enrolled. The gender ratio now is quite satisfying if we compare the last few years. Debates, robotics competitions are also held for better learning and expertise in new technology fields.

The Hostel is quite well maintained. There are two hostels each for boys and girls respectively and that also within the campus. The distance of the hostel from the main building to the hostel is a few meters only. Hostel rooms are generally shared between two to three guys and in the final year of courses, they get single rooms too.

The Alumni network is quite good and seniors help in studies as well as extracurricular activities. Alumni meetings are organized every semester.

For admission in AEC one has to qualify common entrance exam which is usually held in the month of May. Once results are declared in July student has to go through the counseling process. Candidates who qualify for all the criteria are called for admission within 10 days.

The tentative number of lectures in our course is 45. The age of faculty members varies according to expertise in the subject. Smart classrooms are provided for better learning and teaching experience. Lectures are quite relevant Industry experience. Class tests are also held after the completion of 3 chapters for each subject as sessional marks.
