The college management is quite good but it has some shortcomings like we do need a better administration and there is also lack infrastructure which need to be taken care of.
Entrance Preview
Combined entrance exam(state level engineering). I scored a marks of 138 out of 300 was lucky enough to get a seat in Assam Engineering college. There are many other colleges which takes student on the basis of the cee marks. I opted this college because I wanted to stay with my family.
Course Curriculum Overview
It has three parts physics,chemistry,maths.Each consisting of 100 question with one marks and there is no negative marking. It is a three exam.It is a state level entrance exam with other colleges also taking students from the marks secured in this exam. It is a competitive exam as not only student from Assam but from entire northeast competes to get a seat into one of the many colleges. The exam is held at different centres spread throughout the entire Assam.
Internships Opportunities
Mostly IT companies recruits fromour college like Infosys, IBM, wipro etc. Core companies like BPCL,OIL also recruits from our college every year. Regarding internship our internship is mostly done in govt or semi govt enterprises.
Placement Experience
Sorry it is not disclosed in public domain. But job offers are quite good. It depends on kind of company recruiting. The package of core companies are nice with 11 lpa CTC being the highest.
College Events
We celebrate annual techno fest called udhabhavan and the much awaited annual fest is called pyrokinesis it is a one week long gala event with different kind of events being organised on each day. Some common events like annual rock show pyrotechnix and DJ night and many more exciting events.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure is I guess one of the cheapest in whole India with total fees in whole year being Rs 11,000. It is mainy because it is a govt college. We also get a lot free facilities like getting books free of cost for the whole semester.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are lot of scholarship being provided from both govt and pvt entities. To name a few like ishaan udaay which is a scholarship provided to the entire north east region student it comprises of a cash reward of Rs 1,69000 anually.
Campus Life
Hostel life is I guess the star attraction of our college with lot of facilities and events being organised by them. Being the premiere institution in the entire north east region our college is looked upon by many students it has a diverse culture with students from different background,race,religion studying. We have mutual respect for everyone which makes our college one of the most sought after college in entire north east.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel is quite clean and mess food is quite hygenic and nutritious. Again the hostel fees is cheap compared to the facilities provided by the authority.
Alumni/Alumna
We have a great alumni network which has propelled our placement drive to a lot extent. Our senior students are mature,kind and has a eager to help the junior in every path of life. There is a great bond between the passed out and current student.
Exam Structure
Exam schedule is quite chilled out but the marking system is quite strict as in most of the state run institution.
Faculty
They have requisite qualification but they need to change the dynamics of how to teach so as to meet the new methods of teaching. There is also a problem of teachers being given higher designation on the basis of age rather than qualification which is quite absurd. Although there is some teachers who are really awesome and I really think that they should be given higher post as they are much more responsible than others.
