Good college

The college has lowered the number of students through Management quota and the students are taken to excursions, I personally have been to one where we were taken to Ambuja Cement Factory in Durgapur.

I took the WBJEE twice to score a decent rank and then got into this college. My rank was 9520. I chose Mechanical as i had a knack for mechanics and thermodynamics. I was admitted through WBJEE counselling which took place after the results were out.

The course i opted is relatively easy than the other branches. The subjects are interesting and enjoyable but they keep getting tougher with each semester due to the college being autonomous. Fluid being easy is something i can cope with but the other subjects like strength of material, metrology.etc is a bit tough.

The college as of yet does not provide internship for mechanical as the branch was opened quite recently, but it does provide for Computer science and Information technology students. I would not know about the stipend though. And as for experience, well I'm about to experience it in the third year.

Placement is as far as i know more than 80%, most of which are IT based companies. Core based companies are yet to show up on our notice boards. The current companies that come for campusing are Tractors India limited which did not recruit any this year and vatech wabagh ltd which took only two of the top scorers in Mechanical.

The college being in a Metro city gets the opportunity to have many delegates come in and hold seminars. And the college does events like DAKSH and ECLECIA. They also hold many different events such as the recent Tech-Fest where Arijit Singh was invited.

The fee structure is very much feasible. It's 37,000 for first semester and 40,000 for the eighth with an increase of the amount by 500 per semester. They also provide many scholarships for the SC/ST, financially weak and exceptionally good in studies kind of people.

There are a lot of Scholarships, but the most helpful one is that where the fee amount is lessened if the family income is less than 1.5 lac per annum. I could not avail any since i am an average student and am not eligible for fee shortening policy.

The campus life is by far the best i found. The mechanical has only 1 girl, but other branches have almost equal ratio of sexes. The extracurricular activities are good, i have attended two so far, Quadcopter by IIT Pawai, bombay and Robotics by IIT Kharagpur. I also attended a seminar on Auto-CAD and Kali.

The seniors are the most helpful in terms of Knowledge and club activities and the alumni network is good. The mechanical branch is relatively new and will have pass outs from the next year. The Campus is totally ragging free with people watching each others' back.

The exam structure is still the same as that of WBUT, only the invigilation has gotten way more strict and the standard of questions set really tough. they call it a necessity so as to maintain the standard of the college for it's students to be capable and efficient.

The teachers are all experienced and can teach the way we can understand stuff, the reason being the college's reputation. Which attracts all the retired teachers of Jadavpur University and Shibpur college. The teachers are proficient in their respective fields, though the number of teachers is a bit less.
