Remarks
One of the biggest advantage of studying in tech o that now one would tell you is its bigg network of ti(techno india) colleges. Because of its huge number of colleges under its branch. Any company comming to hire in kolkata (aprt form the companies that come for jadavpur and iist and iit kharagpur) visits our campus first.
Course Curriculum Overview
Well our college is surely not a top tier college but it is one of the best private institutions. During my college life I found good focus was laid on practical knowledge. By building various project. But on the research side its still a bit weak and needs to work on research. Overall I was impressed with the faculty during my 3 1/2 yrs in my college.
Placement Experience
Yes we have a very decent placement. I myself am placed in Deloitte. And many of my friends are placed in companies like TCS digital(7. 5 LPA), ZS, Thought works, L&T infotech, and many others. And although I don't have any internship (Deloitte doesn't give interships). Apart from that nearly 45 out of 140 students in CSE had internships. And nealy 110-120 of them had jobs. They don't let you to sit in campusing if you have backlogs. So placement experience was pretty decentdecent I would say.
College Events
We have major 4 events in our college(there are many other). Writing in order of importance (popularity) 1. EDGE: This is the technical fest of our college. And the biggest in kolkata in terms of footfall and prize money. Well I have seen this fest very closely as I am a crew member (Head of Autonomous Robotics club). It has events like coding contest, robotics, gaming and many other. 2. Anaakronos: This is the cultural fest. For people who like to sing and dance (no offence). Even I have visited the fest and they have popular guest over and its a lot of fun overall. 3. Samaritans: this is a club which help out people. Basically a club to help the society. They organise walkathons and other events. 4. Ecclectical: Literary club for people who like to write poems and articles, etc. Although being an engineering college this club has quiet a bit of followers of its own.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is feasible and not over bearing. My 4 years course costed me only 3. 9 Lakhs. And for this amount most students dont have to take any loans. It does have concession for people with low income. The college offers you manly two way of paying fees. 1. You could pay through DD(demand draft) 2. You could create account with pnb inside college and pay through that account. 3. They also started paytm I think (never used it).
Fees and Financial Aid
I did not opt for scholarship. The college does not have any scholarships but if you want. You have to opt for scholarship with the government.
Campus Life
The campus life was great. Mainly because of its location. It lies in the heart of sillicon valley of kolkata. And its a great atmosphere. Being an engineering college gender ratio was 1:10 girls to boys ratio. And other extracurricular was also good. I learned a lot being in the robotics club myself. Now I am a head of the same club. Plus there are other activities too like debate, sports(we have a club for this too), entrepreneur cell, literary club, technical club and social works club. We can do pretty much anything you want. Personally thanks to the robotics club I could explore many new technologies and really know what engineering was about.
Hostel Facilities
Nope our college does not have any hostel. I stay in a pg. There are many available near the college. Pgs mostly take ?6000 monthly. But you could also opt for flat which would cost ?12000 nearly for a flat of 4. For ?6000 my pg offers 2 times meal, breakfast and dinner, and a room shared by 3. Afternoon meal is given only on Saturday and sunday.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network is great. And if you involve in these club activities. The biggest benifit you get is to know the seniors who go into different companies and higer studies. Its a great source to start networking. And they are do help a lot.
Admission
I got admission into my college throught WBJEE(west bengal state entreance exam). My rank was 4003. After getting the rank in wbjee you have to 1. Freeze you seat with wbjee board in the respective college. 2. After your seat is confirmed you take confirmation letter to the college and they give you admission. And I was lucky enough to get cse. I always wanted to study computer science. Because since school days I was good in computer science and I had a passion for programming too.
Faculty
During these 3 and a half years in my college I was quiet impressed with the faculty. They are well educated and deliver the materials nicely. Although not all of them have a doctorate, their teaching is efficient. And I enjoyed their classes. The lab classes for our CSE was rigorous. Sometimes too much so. Having friends in other engineering colleges I knew our teaching and labs especially was far better than other colleges.
