Remarks
Amal Jyothi provided a fine environment for crafting engineers. But besides the academic factor, other factors like extra curricular activities should be given a boost so that the college cateres to all the needs of the students.
Course Curriculum Overview
While I was studying, the college followed MGU syllabus. The curriculum fills the basic needs of an engineer and yes, indeed industrial visits and internships were a part of our life and was encouraged by the college. The Engineering curriculum in Kerala was recently modified which made it more industry specific. Besides the curriculum, the college itself offers various institutes and courses inside the campus which can be helpful for the students other than learning the syllabus.
Placement Experience
The college has a fine placement cell, who is trying hard to get placements for the students. They offer coaching and introduces various exams to students, which can help them earn a job. I attended such an exam suggested by the placement cell and earned a job via the same. Amal Jyothi offers various workshops and internships during the academic years. I myself have attended android workshop and robotic workshop organized by the college. Apart from that, I have done internship at ernakulam for embedded systems and Thermal power plant, Kayamkulam.
College Events
College celebrations include technical events organized both inside and outside the college and festival celebrations. The college fest Azure is conducted every year and while I was studying it was not in a grand setup. But later years, the fests were organized with much more vibe. Technical events are held every year as per the university norms and besides various conferences and seminars are conducted by the college every now and then.
Fee Structure And Facilities
While I was studying, fees for merti list students were 75k and for management seats were 85k per year. I believe the fee structure has reduced in the past years but im not aware of the same. Besides, the college offers various scholarships for students based on their entrance performance. So for them the fees can be maximum up to 10 k per year.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yes, I have availed a scholarship based on my entrance score. Top scorers in every batch based on KEAM are given fee waivers. Besides, prizes are also given to top scorers in semester exams by departments.
Campus Life
The college mainly focuses on academics. All the facilities for having a good academic life are provided bu the college. Various sports trainings are also available in the college, mainly basketball and cricket. While I was studying, the campus life was a more strict compared to the later years. But I guess Amal Jyothi still offers a good environmental for its students.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network is not that strong for the college. Mostly passed out students keep in contact with their teachers but other than that the alumni experience is rather weak I would say.
Admission
I joined Amal Jyothi in 2014. I applied on the college website regarding my interest in taking the college. After the engineering entrance results came, I chose the college based on my merit. The admission procedure started by end of june and completed before mid july. Classes started by end of July. I preferred Amal Jyothi as it is close to my native. The college also offered me concessions in fees based on my marks. Besides, Amal Jyothi is top notch in terms of the facilities it provides.
Faculty
Per week about 45 - 50 lectures along with labs are usually provided. The lecture number changes with semesters, so an exact number cannot be provided. Most of the teachers are post graduate and a few pursuing for PhD. The average age of the faculty is around 35-40.
