Remarks

The Management is a lot helpful, but there is definitely a scope of becoming much more open to suggestions.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The curriculum is great (it is Autonomous), though it is mostly guided by MAKAUT. The courses are being taught with much detail and we are given enough opportunities to prove your stand in the classes. Enough courses were there offering industry knowledge, though that's a thing you need to develop more once you are in the industry. Yes, there are industry visits for the students that help you in actually seeing the things that are taught.

Placement Experience

4.5

The placement scenario is really good and it had opened up over the years. The new TPO has made many good ammendments to the recruitment model and that had helped in bringing many good companies, both from Core and IT backgrounds. Personally, I had bagged offers from both and IT company as well as a Core company. Internship opportunities are there and good internship opportunities provided by the college is limited and only limited till the good students (which makes sense as there are not so many good internships available as the number of students in a batch). So, the others need to seek their own opportunities, but the college has several tie-ups and thus it helps a lot for everyone to get an internship.

College Events

5

There is a student's council in our college and it organised several events, including film festivals, freshers, technical fests and cultural fests annually. There are several clubs in the college and each organize their seperate events on top of that like photowalks, debate contests and all.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees structure is almost roughly ?39,000 per semester and it needs to be paid within the first month of the semester to avoid late fees. An initial extra ?20,000 needs to also be paid for an initial registration and an extra ?1,000 needs to be paid per semester as University Exam Fees. There are no additional fees for regular students, but there is a management quota and extra fees could be charged for that purpose for those students. There is decent transparency in the fees breakdown, though some of it maybe overcharged. But, looking at the infrastructure and education quality, it's understandable.

Fees and Financial Aid

I had studied by taking an Educational Loan and it was a pretty easy process. I had to submit my admission proof and a letter from the college to my bank and thereby, I could get the loan sanctioned. There are no scholarship opportunities to reduce the fees in the college. But, there is a quota for students coming from poor families and they have to pay an extremely nominal fees every semester.

Campus Life

5

The gender ratio depends from department to department. It's something like 1 girl for every 5 boys. The college is always lively and there is some or the other events going on all year round. I was the chairman of my departmental technical club and we organized several technical events. Apart from that, similar 16 clubs were there having multiple incidents. Students are quite open minded and are quite open to religion, race and sexual orientation. There are no party politics in the college, but there are lobbies fighting for the student's council.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

No, I had not stayed in hostel, but had several friends who did as they were not the localities of the city. The experience I heard from them were of great fun and unity, starting from studies to playing games together.

Alumni/Alumna

The senior students are really helpful in the college from providing books to class notes. We got total career guidance from them. The Alumni is also active and helps in guiding the students. Now, as an alumni, I also help my juniors in making decisions that could help them in their career.

Admission

I had appeared for West Bengal Engineering Entrance Examination and had secured a spot in this college. I had chosen this field because I was specifically interested in Robots and Smart Devices and so I hoped that this course will help me in realising my goals to do something in these fields. There was a councelling procedure where I had to finalize my choice and then make the final admission steps in my college.

Faculty

4.5

There are 38 professors in our department. Now, it is almost obvious that all are not having the same sort of expertise in teaching and there are lapses. But, one thing is for certain that most of them have in depth knowledge of the subjects and you can approach them 1-1 to clear any sort of doubts. There is and IEEE Branch in our college and it has an Electronics branch and the professors brought many lecturers from renowned colleges across the globe to make us more aware of the current research scopes.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

It's my decision from class 12 that I will do civil engineering, so I chose the civil branch, the course curriculum is well and the teaching level is good but the main problem is lab, there is very limited classes for lab, so I think they should improve there.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
