According to our elders, the Department of English was really good and the professors are well experienced. There are several departments that offer a good facility. Though sometimes classes get missed due to the low no professors in some departments. The admission process to Goalpara College generally takes two days, and it is held in June.
Course Curriculum Overview
I wanted to continue my studies in the field of culture and language, which is why I chose English as my major subject. The no of students in every college is a big one indeed, though in Goalpara college the ratio of faculty and student is around 1:50. The faculty members are graduate, and the process of teaching in class are marked as good.
Placement Experience
Till now there is no placement offered for the students right after completing their course. Most of the students try for government jobs and around 30% of the final semester's students keep continuing their studies, and they go for M.A., M.Sc., MBA, MCom, etc. Some students after completing their course open home tuition.
Fees and Financial Aid
Earlier there was free admission to the Economically weak Section and now as the Assam Government has declared the fee for Under-Graduate students to be free of cost, there will be no admission fee for the students. There are several scholarships that the students can apply such as the minority scholarship, 'MLA area funding' scholarship, etc.
Campus Life
There are general freshers every year to welcome the newcomers and this is conducted in September. The students get excited during this period to welcome the juniors. There is a library on the East campus of the college and it is pretty much of good use. Students can borrow the books they need to read. There is also College week in February, Many games such as Cricket, running race, Javelin throw, quizzes, singing, and dancing are organized. There is also NSS and NCC guidance in this college which is good for personality development.
Admission
The student must secure 35% marks in his 12th board exams.
