Entrance Preview

The admission to Engineering colleges in J&K is made through JKCET entrance examination. I also got admission through same procedure where in I managed to score 102 marks. I wanted to pursue Engineering in ECE branch and the best engineering college in Jammu based on placements which offered ECE was this college.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The college was affiliated to University of Jammu and therefore followed the curriculum proposed by them. It was old and was not up to dated. Most of the current subjects like VLSI, Embedded during that time were not part of curriculum. Though College tie ups with top universities and companies did gave us the required skill set required in the industry.

Internships Opportunities

The College was just four years old when we joined and struggled to establish contact with the companies. We were infact lucky as by the time we required assistance it had establish links with major companies. Our entire batch got the internship assistance in major telecos. The stipend part however was missing.

Placement Experience

3.5

The placements could be termed as average with most of the students getting offer letter in the range of 2.5-3 LPA. The college couldn't get the students placed in some big companies at higher pay package. The companies which visited our campus during that time included Stayam, Infosys, L&T, Mytas, Hindustan Construction, Canon.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure was very affordable as it was the lowest in the entire north India. With annual fee structure of 28000 per year it gave an affordable opportunity to the students of the region to pursue their engineering degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

The College used to offer annual scholarship of Rs 10000 to 12 students based on merit and means. It was named on the owners of the institution. I could't avail any of the scholarship which was offered as couldn't comply with the guidelines.

Campus Life

3

It was one of the best college in terms of the campus life. We had everything in the campus required for a beautiful campus life. Lush green lawns, canteen, sitting area, open theaters it made for picturesque campus. The competitions like debate, conference had their own charm which encouraged competition among students and gave them opportunity to explore their hidden talents.

Alumni/Alumna

The College was connected to the alumni network and had a full fledged IT portal to connect all alumni's. We had regular interactions with alumni during "Meet the alumni" guest lecture series. We also had different alumni forums like "alumni mentorship programme" under which alumni used to mentor some students who were put under them.

Exam Structure

The exams and labs was a monthly affair which included sessionals, lab test and finally examination after every six months. There used to be 12 sessionals, 4 lab test and 6 final examination which was a very tough scenario to be in.

Faculty

3.5

The quality of the standard except few faculty members was below the quality standards. They recruited freshers who were merely out of the college and hence were not able to do the required justice with the subjects which otherwise required in depth analysis.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is quiet relevant it covers all the important subjects and topics.I chose the Ece branch as the demand of semiconductors is rising in the future. The curriculum perpares us well for real world applications. The course teaches us a lot of outdated concepts but it misses out to teach about what is happening in the world right now. So the course can involve a lot of topics that are in trend.

Placement Experience:

Placemets start right from your 7th semester. Most comapnies that would come here would be like vedanta , ashok leyland etc etc who mainly do mass hiring, th no of offers are quite low as for durig my time most companies qul do diversity and hiring would only select girls and the girls were low in numbers as compared to the boys so each girl recieved atleast 2-3 offers while rarely a boy would even rev=cieve a single offer. The highest package was offered by Vedanta but it was 13 lpa in ct in hand it would be arond 5-6 lpa , the average package was also the same around 5-6 lakhs per annum. Percentage of students placed would be around 30 percent but they inflated the numbers heavily but showing only the students who were eleigible as boys were mostle ineligible. My plans are to look for masters somewhere abroad.
