Remarks

The College management should stress focus on improving the standards of the services given to the students like creating unique experiences which could include high speed internet facilities, grants for projects, getting more industry specific short term coursed included.

Entrance Preview

JKCET-Jammu and Kashmir Common Entrance Test. I could score around 102 marks out of the maximum 200 marks. The first priority was to seek admission in the government college in the Electronics and Communication. I couldn't get into the cut off list and had to settle for the ECE branch. The infrastructure and labs were at par with the top institute.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The Course Curriculum could be considered to be good a that time. The college was bounded and restricted to follow the course curriculum finalised by Jammu University. Though the College through its tie ups with Companies like EMC provided us with the required industry skills.

Internships Opportunities

The College Placement Cell was doing a fantastic job in assisting students with the internship opportunities. Our institution had tie ups with companies like Airtel, BSNL, Tata, where in majority of our students used to get absorb during the Summer Internship.

Placement Experience

3.5

Our batch enjoyed a pretty good placement rate with over 120+ students getting placed in companies like Satyam(Tech Mahindra Now), Infosys, Hindustan Construction, Life Business Projects, Siemens. The average salary offered was around 2.5 LPA and the highest salary package was offered to student who got placed in Hindustan Construction at 4.5 LPA

College Events

4.5

The College provided the adequate support and strength to the students initiatives. Our College was the first to start the National Level Technical Fest in the state of J&K. Our batch was the first to kick start that kind of events in the college. Every year around 5000+ Students from all across the north india participate in the college,Sports Day:-It was an annual affair and we had almost all kind of games from athletics to the Cricket Matched played at the college.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure was the lowest among all the private engineering institute s in the north India. We Paid a total fees of 1,12000 for four years which was less than a years fee as compared to maximum of Punjab colleges. Is was very affordable for maximum number of students.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college was offering Merit Cum Means scholarship on the names of the owners as sum of Rs 10000 per year to the 10 students.

Campus Life

4

The gender ratio of our batch was around 65:35 (Male:Female). The College got admissions through entrance examination. Due to restriction in J&K for students from outside to get admission in engineering college, all the students from J&K, majority from Jammu. We had different student chapters in the form of IEEE, ISTE, CSI where in we organised different events through out the year.

Hostel Facilities

4

There were no hostel facilities available at our time though most of the students were local and never felt its need, But some students from Kashmir did face problems. The food in Canteen was good and economical. We had some kiosk also for tea and coffee purpose.

Alumni/Alumna

The college had done a excellent job in setting up vibrant alumni community where in we could connect to alumni from all across the country and work on live projects and seek their guidance on future career paths. We had special programs like alumni mentorship and meet the alumni series where in we got the requisite exposure in terms of industry requirements.

Exam Structure

The exams and Labs structure was infact were laborious and tiry and left all the students exhausted at the end of every semester. There were around 9 sessionals, 20 Lab Test in addition to 44 University exams for all the engineering students which never makes students to come out of that exam zone and give time for innovation

Faculty

3.5

The college laid emphasis in getting the MTech qualified faculty for most of our courses. We also had some visiting professors from IIT's and NIT's for 10% of course coverage. Overall the staff was well qualified but some how lacked on the practical front due to lack of exposure.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is quiet relevant it covers all the important subjects and topics.I chose the Ece branch as the demand of semiconductors is rising in the future. The curriculum perpares us well for real world applications. The course teaches us a lot of outdated concepts but it misses out to teach about what is happening in the world right now. So the course can involve a lot of topics that are in trend.

Placement Experience:

Placemets start right from your 7th semester. Most comapnies that would come here would be like vedanta , ashok leyland etc etc who mainly do mass hiring, th no of offers are quite low as for durig my time most companies qul do diversity and hiring would only select girls and the girls were low in numbers as compared to the boys so each girl recieved atleast 2-3 offers while rarely a boy would even rev=cieve a single offer. The highest package was offered by Vedanta but it was 13 lpa in ct in hand it would be arond 5-6 lpa , the average package was also the same around 5-6 lakhs per annum. Percentage of students placed would be around 30 percent but they inflated the numbers heavily but showing only the students who were eleigible as boys were mostle ineligible. My plans are to look for masters somewhere abroad.
