Remarks

One of the oldest reputed Colleges in the state. It has all the elements required for a good college life. Campus is filled with lush green, beautiful campus. There are many key factors that has driven me to take admission in GCE Kannur. I will surely mention some of them. 1) Reputed Government Engineering College 2) Good Infrastructure 3) Societies and Clubs in the college 4) Expertised Faculties and Good Faculty Strength 5) Ragging Free Campus 6) Great Placement Opportunities 7) Friendly and Cooperative Seniors 8) Immensively supportive Alumni. The factors goes on.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course structure is research oriented and application oriented. There are frequent labs and exams(both for labs and theory). The frequent exams has always made the situation hectic.

Class Size: 52Course Fees: INR 30000 per year

Placement Experience

Placement is fine. Mostly 3.5 lakhs per annum salary. Some students did get selected for higher packages. Almost all the companies coming are from the IT sector. Major recruiters include TCS, WIPRO, INFOSYS, QBURST, Byjus, MRF,Cognizant,Quest.

College Events

Xplore' is the annual technical fest of GCE Kannur. It is actually an event which almost involves a mix of tech-culture-management. There are other fests including Melange and Xpressions which are purely Art fests. Avega is the mini technical fest of the college. College also has clubs and associations such as ISTE, IEEE, SAE,ROBOCEK- The robotics club, Lingo - The Debate Club ( A venture by ISTE ECE Forum), IEDC, LITSOCEK( The Literature Club), Music Club,Dance CLub, Alumini Association, The College Union.

College has highly maintained labs for the practical experience of the students, well trained lab assistants.

Hostel Facilities

Hostel infrastructure is comparatively good as compared to the other government colleges. The rooms are big enough and is sufficient to accomodate 4 persons in a room. There are common bathrooms and toilets for each floor. Other facilities include Common Mess Hall(inlcudes TV also),Table Tennis Rooms, Carrom Board Corners,Gymnasium.

Placement Experience:

we are eligible for placement from the 7th sem. Many famous and small compines vist our college. Infosys, WIPRO, TCS vist our college. But the big companies take only few student. Highest package was 1,00,000. And the average package is around 4,00,000. Almost all students gets placed from the campus .

My Experience at NIT Calicut

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the EEE course curriculum around 8-8.5 /10 in terms of relevance.The curriculum provides strong fundamentals in core electrical engineering subjects and prepares students well for core jobs and higher studies.The course curriculum was revised in 2023, and our batch is the 1st batch under the new curriculum. however, there are still limited coding ,AI and data science subjects in EEE ,which could be improved. Exams are conducted times per semester and are generally moderately difficult.

Is engineering here worth it?

Students are eligible from 7th semester to sit for interviews. The pod.ai app helps us in making the resume and calculating a cgpa to appear for the intwrviews. The pod.ai registration fees is 500?. Companies such as nissan,infosys,commandtech,bimlabs,gulfasia etc has visited . And the highest package was 11 LPA and lowest was 3 LPA

An honest review of GCE KANNUR by a student

The college is merit based admission college, to get admission in this college you have to write an entrance exam which is KEAM and I have a rank of 16000 in KEAM So the college I first confirmed admission was GEC Kozhikode which was a good college but the campus was too small so there was a spot admission which was held by GCE kannur and I applied for it The admission process is managed by KEAM they give you a date to take admission and the process gets done in 2hrs you have to be physically present with your parents , The overall admission experience was smooth and well managed by the faculties...Read More
