Remarks
Good thing is that we are lucky to have studied in a reputed college and in a good location. Bad thing is that we had lost a semester due to water shortage.
Entrance Preview
I have written All Kerala Entrance Exam and I got a rank of 738. I got an option to choose between 2-3 Colleges, of which i have chosen NSS college of Engg Palakkad, Kerala.
Course Curriculum Overview
There were 8 Semesters and there were internal exams for each curriculum. A total of 52 papers. Also there was a course project and seminar which needs to be submitted in the eight semester.
Placement Experience
Since the early 2000's was a kind of recession period not much companies came and the recruitment cell was also not that great. So we tried outside and registered in some external agencies.
College Events
We had the Annual celebration each year which is a cultural event. Also we had some technical fests each year to enhance the curriculum knowledge. We were the active participants in those.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees structure were those described as per the Govt standards. it was around 1200 Rs every year with a total course fee of below 5000 Rs. The exam fee needs to be paid extra.
Fees and Financial Aid
I have availed a scholarship of 2000 rs as per my merit on the SSLC board exam. But it took a lot of time for getting that since its a Government college :)
Campus Life
The gender ratios were 3:1 in my department which is Electronics and communications. There was politics though due to which we have lost some of the days.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities were average and the Mess food was just OK. Non vegetarian dishes were there twice in a month. The average rentals paid during that time was 500 Rs for a room with sharing.
Alumni/Alumna
We are having a nice relationship with our college seniors. Even now we are maintaining the relationship through Email groups, facebook and whatsapp. We are organising several get together parties as a part of it.
Exam Structure
The exams were a kind of hectic as we are looking into the subjects at the last moment and were sleeping for 4-5 hours before the exam day. The labs were cool.
Faculty
The faculty was good and the standards were ok. Since it was a Govt Engineering college the lab facilities were not that good. But the teaching standards were good.
