Remarks
The Faculty at MIT-WPU are highly competent. Almost all of them are well-experienced PhD's, having teaching experience of more than 10-15 years. Second, The campus. I swear, When I was present there for my admissions round, the campus is just eye-catching. The globe at the centre of the campus is the main point of attraction here. The dome-shaped Central Library of the University, has just infinite number of books for every program say Pharmacy, Engineering, MBA, etc. The university also has a lot of student clubs which encourage students to socialize, work together in a community and teaches many other things. Apart from academics, The university also supports more than 80 sports here at the campus and the annual Sports Summit, which is held in September every year, is the biggest sports summit in Pune. Last but not the least, The institute is ranked 4th best in Pune for its placements. Last year, highest placement package for a CSE engineering student was about 28 L.P.A and the average package lies nearly about 6-8 LP.A.
Course Curriculum Overview
Since the last 3 years, when MIT-WPU turned into a private university, the course curriculum has changed drastically, and trust me it is for the better. It is way better than any other University, at least in Maharashtra. Here, we don't have semester's, instead we have trimester pattern. Meaning, a year consists of 3 trimesters. Now some people may think that it will be more difficult to pass, but that is not the case. Each subject has a limited syllabus and one can easily clear if he/she attend the lectures(Not regularly obviously, but make sure to keep it atleast 60%). First year curriculum is common for all engineering distributions and from the next year you get distributed according to your specialization branch.
Placement Experience
All the top companies from around the country come to the college for placements. The recent examples of recruiting companies are Wipro, Infosys, Deloittee, TCS, Cognizant, Oracle and many more. Every year, more than 80% of the students get placed on in-campus placements.
College Events
You won't get a campus life as such anywhere else in Pune. I would love to mention some of the mind-blowing festivals/technical events in the campus. The university has it's own special annual cultural fest named 'Aarohan' which is held in January every year. It is a 3-day fest. This year, it was a grand success with a concert of Nikhil-D-Souza and more than 10,000 students attended the event. Other than this, you may see a lot of movie-stars coming for promotions here. Kangana Ranaut visited the campus this year along with her team for promotion of movie 'Panga'. The annual sports summit is held in September, with 200+ teams coming from all over India. Also, technical fests like Winter School, Devfest are also held. Every month atleast one-two workshops/events are held by the different student clubs including HACK-X, Texephyr, TEDx-MITWPU, Robocon and many more.
Campus Life
As mentioned earlier, the university has the best campus infrastructure in Pune. The campus is spread on more than 1000+ acres of land. The Central Library has amazing seating facility, more than thousands of books, coffee machines, and digital labs with free Ethernet internet connection. Coming to sports facilities, you name a sport, and you can play that on the campus. The campus has a basketball ground, cricket ground, volleyball ground, football ground. It also has indoor games like Table Tennis Court, Badminton court etc. Plus, there is also a gymnasium in the campus for the body-building freaks. The labs of the campus namely Computer labs, Physics labs and I don't know many more like 100+ labs all are well furnished and air-conditioned, which is of course the best part of the institute. All the equipments in the lap are up-to-date and readt-to-use.
Hostel Facilities
If you need the hostel facility, make sure to book it in very advance. The rooms are clean, well-spacious and it is divided on basis of sharing of either 2-3 students per room. The hostel also has it's own wifi which the students can use but sometimes shut downs. You can opt for PG's if you don't get the hostel seat. There are a lot of pg's in the area in 500m-10km range. Try to find a pg a bit far say 1-2 km from the college, trust me, it'll save you a lot of money. The average monthly rent of PG's goes around 6000-7000 on sharing basis as the Kothrud area is very porsche and very-much in demand.
