I love commerce because of accountancy. I want to pursue MBA in finance for master's. So i took b.com honours in accountancy and finance. Heramba Chandra College is well known for its commerce department

Course Curriculum Overview

The teachers are very lenient. They do not take the classes properly. We ourselves have to study the whole syllabus. The professors do not come to the classes much. And there's no pressure for attendance as well. Some teachers are good though they take their subjects seriously.

Placement Experience

During our briefing when we entered this college we were told few companies do come for placements and quite a lot of students are placed every year. The alumni networking is good. Many old students are still a part of the college. Some professors are ex students of our college.

College Events

The campus is very old. There's a small playground where all the events of college take place. The events are organised by the student union. These events are fun. We also have clubs like fashion art music dance etc. These clubs take part in various competition organised by other colleges.

St Joseph's college a Decent one

Placement Experience:

Placements were not there earlier. But our batch was the first one to get placement at St Joseph's College Darjeeling. To be honest It is not a college you should target if you are looking for placement. The companies were too small . The roles are way to entry level . Highest placement was around 40000 per month but it was an inside sales role so many opt out. There is not official data about placement . My plan was to look for off campus jobs.

Placement Experience:

from 3rd semester, students become eligible for campus placement. Various Jewelleries company has visited, and even companies like Google, Tata and many has visited. As per i know the highest package were in lacs per month. The college provides 100% placement. After getting the degree, I'll do masters in business administration.

I did chose this course to learn more about accounting and finance and the cirriculum prepares you perfectly for the real world. The exams were conducted very soon in few semester only giving 3 months for the students to prepare . the professors were good at teaching and somehow used to complete the syllabus

SXC is invaluable to me!

Placement Experience:

Highest package of our program has been 20 lakhs. Companies like EY, DeShaw, ITC, CESC and many others which are multi billion dollar groups were the ones which are invited for placements. Batch size including morning and evening is of 400 students and nearly 200 gets placements in dream companies. Roles of business analyst and accounting are provided and SAP is taught in our college so those who know that gets job easily.
