Remarks

There is nothing bad to say about the team of knowledge. It has made a child into a man to face the corporate world.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Since the college is affiliated to Mumbai University the course is pretty much the same as other colleges. What makes Ruia stand apart from other colleges in the discipline. All lecturers are too serious and strict when it comes to studies. They make sure you attend every class and not bunk lectures. During a free period, it is made sure that the students are in the college library practising extra sums and getting ready to face the world. Back in 2004, there was no concept of campus placement. But passing out of Ruia held a good amount of weightage on the resume. As the interviewer got confidence that a Ruia pass out can do anything. Now the curriculum has changed a lot so a lot of importance is given to industry visits to make the students graduate to Officers.

Placement Experience

2.5

In today's time, all major corporates prefer picking up students from the Management colleges. Ruia being a temple for basic graduation not many organisations visit here. But I assure you that this college prepares the students for their higher education. Also, a graduate from Ruia holds more weight in an interview than a graduate from any other college.

College Events

5

Ruia Film festival The most famous stage drama festival which is visited by celebrity Annual fest (Utsav) followed by a prom night on the last day and a light show Sports events We had a cricket team, softball team, boxing team, archery, rifle shooting. The college was well equipped with archery and rifle shooting range and a boxing coach. Since I was not much inclined to cricket and football didn't take interest in finding out how the coach is.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The most affordable college in the whole of India with the best facilities being provided. Back in 1999-2004, the fee was approx. 1200/ annum + laboratory fee of 1000/ annum. If there is any breakage of chemistry lap apparatus then charges extra. But it's still affordable. The college also provides free education for underprivileged under the right to education.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees for any kind of student be it from the rich to the lower middle class was flat. It was the most affordable college with a good education and facilities.

Campus Life

5

The female ratio is more. The college ensures that it takes care of every student's interest when it came to extra curricular activities. During the annual fest, most of the big events were hosted from intelligence to drama to dance which will suit the interest of all kind of students.

Alumni/Alumna

Once a Ruiaite always a ruiaite. Since I am too much involved in my professional and personal life I am not much connected. But my college time friends are there making network with the alumni. They share a strong bond and do visit the college now once a month.

Admission

I was always inclined towards Science and physics and mathematics attracted me so I wanted to pursue graduation in the field of Science. This college offers two streams at the graduation level. 1. Bachelor of Science 2. Bachelor of Arts. It does offer other specialisation like MSc and MPhil. There is an undergraduate college as well for 11th and 12th. The college is affiliated to Mumbai University. Apart from BSc in mathematics it also has a lot of offerings like computer science, MASS media, management studies, etc. The laboratory is well equipped and has a lot of extracurricular activities. The admission process is purely on merit. Despite not scoring a good percentage I was fortunate and blessed to get admission here in the last merit list. One of the best places Mumbai to get educated after Xavier's.

Faculty

5

We had around 6 subjects and 2 additional vocational compilation subjects which were either electronic or computers. There was a good setup lab for these. The faculty knew their job too well and the subject as well. They were perfect. There was no faculty who didn't have a minimum of 20 yrs of teaching experience in the field of science. Since computer science being newly inducted back then in 2003 the youngest faculty were from the computer science department. But I could salute them as they were best in what they did despite being relatively younger in their profession as compared to faculties from other streams. Almost every faculty whom I had known and had taught me held a master's degree with the mandatory Bachelor and masters of education.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose Biotechnology because it is a multidisciplinary field. We get to study not only topics related to biotechnology but also biochemistry, bio physics, bio informatics, bio statistics, etc. Mostly everything that is essential for future exams is taught during the span of 3 years. The topics of the units are taught in depth but the questions asked during exams are comparatively easy as to what all we studied. The frequency of the exam is, 1 internal exam which consists of both mcqs and written exam, the semester exam for each semester and practical exams for each subject. If u have studied then you will be able to attempt the questions.

Placement Experience:

My college gives campus placement placement opportunities typically after 4th semester, which is the 2nd half of the 2nd year. As my college has a partnership with IBM so the standards of campus placement go right up as the placement depends on the curriculum performance of the student so can't really say much for this. If saying as a stalemate, getting a placement is basically confirmed if the student maintains his/her CGPA of 6-7, which shows the consistent of the student in their field.
