Haldia Institute of Technology is a decent private Engineering college

The management is very politically active and they always biased to a particular political party. Any student having guardian with a political background have all the benefits from the management. I think this habit of the management demoralises the other talented students.

The course curriculum of the College follows the guidelines set up by the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal. It is good but definitely not research driven. The curriculum alone cannot develop any industry specific skills to the students. They have to put their own extra effort to learn new skills.

Placements was really good for our stream. During 2011 it was 200% placements. I got two jobs. One in Linde group and another in L&T.

Cultural fest, Tech Fest, Riviera the annual Fest. The tech fest is not so big in this college. however some faculties are making their good efforts to improve the quality of the same. The annual grand fest Riviera is a big event. Almost all of the students except some over studious ones participate in this event. Many famous artists make performance during this event. The famous flute artist Hariprasad Chaurasia performed during 2009 Annual Fest.

Fee structure is Feasible. Both cash and credit card is accepted there. College provides decent transperency in the fee break down. In 2007, the semester fees for the B.tech course was around 30000. There was additional fees of 6000 per semester for the hostel(Fooding seperate)

Yes college provides such facilities. But the management is very choosy and politically biased in this case. Any student having guardian with a political background gets preference in this situation.

There is some sports facilities. There is a big play ground, volleyball court, and gymnasium. There are table tennis set up in the gymnasium. Gender ratios are variable according to the stream. Civil got a ratio of 66:3. Whereas computer science got a ratio of 2:3 (boy: girl).

Yes. The hostel is easily available there. I got a three sharing room with two roommates. Hostel food is not good but condition of the rooms are quite good. There were three different beds, three different fans and three different sets of chairs and tables in our room. There was a attached bathroom with our room.

The alumni network is very helpful and cooperative. I still have a good relationship with my seniors.

I got the admission in this college through West Bengal Joint Entrance examination. I had a rank of 4556 in the said examination in the year 2007. In the college counselling day which took place in Howrah Sarat Sadan I opted for Civil Engineering in Haldia. With that sort of rank there was no option available for a Government College. So, chose Haldia Civil.

There were 7 or 8 faculties in our stream with an average age of 30-35. Some of the faculties were really good having very clear knowledge about their subject. But most of them was very egoistic. They don't encourage innovative ideas. The teaching techniques are traditional.
