Course Curriculum Overview
IIT Kharagpur provide you to explore as much as you can do during your academic year. They have well designed and equipped labs where you can work on your research ideas. There you will have lots of seniors and Professor who will guide you and help you will your problems. Industrial visits depends on the branch like geology and geophysics branch have 2 mandatory field visit.
Placement Experience
In your pre final year you will get a chance to do internship which will be organised by college and in your final year you will be able to apply for the placement. IIT Kharagpur have placement in two phases first phase in the month of December and the second phase is in the month of February and March.
College Events
IIT Kharagpur have India's largest techno management fest called KSHITJ and also they have the biggest culture fest called Spring fest. Apart from that they have fest for each department and there are manegement fest called Global Entrepreneurs Summit.
Fee Structure And Facilities
There is one time payment for each semester which includes your mess fee, hostel fee, tution fee, exam fee, water, electricity, internet, college events, medical, maintanence and many other. Fee is feasible if you compare with the facilities provided by the college.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are multiple scholarship available your the students. For the students who's family income is below 6.5 lakh they will easily get the scholarship also for there are some other scholarship which depends on your academic record. Also you will easily get the education loan from SBI Bank which is inside the campus at minimum interest rates.
Campus Life
At IIT Kharagpur you will get the chance to explore your interest and follow your passion. Almost every week something is going on in the campus. The gender ratio at IIT KGP is poor around 9:1 and college have zero tolerance policy towards any kind of gender, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, politics and economic status. In iit Kharagpur you will find society for everything like robotics, dance, singing, drama, also they have very good sports facilities available.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel rooms will be provided to each student by the college. During your first and second year you have to share your room with two roommates and from third year you will have single room. Honestly hostel rooms are not IIT level but you will have all kind of facilities inside your hostel like night canteen, stationery store, music room, hostel library, and have indoor and outdoor sports facilities.
Alumni/Alumna
IIT Kharagpur have the India's largest alumni network and they are always ready to help you with any kind of situation you are facing. Seniors will help you and guide you during your academic year.
Admission
I got the admission after clearing Jee mains and advanced. Firstly I preferred my branch over college and that's how I landed to IIT KGP. Firstly you have to clear jee mains. Out of the total number of students only 1.5 lakh students get the chance to write JEE advance.
Faculty
You can choose your Professor by yourself and ask for the project and if they find you suitable for the job they will give you the project where you can boost your academic knowledge and maybe get a chance to write a research paper on the project. Form the lecture you can get the therotical knowlege and from the lab experience you can strengthen your industrial knowledge
