Remarks
I was having one issue and it's the summer placements. College isn't focusing on summer placements. Through this they can make many good organizations come to IBS and give internship offers. Some of them would receive PPOs and through this recognition would come. This would lead to another feather towards success and the same would make it helpful to do a final placement flexibly.
Course Curriculum Overview
IBS Mumbai is giving MBA equivalent PGPM which contains all the modern procedures to teach the future Talents. IBS Mumbai isn't like the top colleges of India. They are good at par. But they put 750 people in our batch which is very big for any Tier 2 BSchool. So the output won't be that expected. It's upto the person who is coming is capable for the same or not. When we consider the course curriculum, it's excellent. There are 4 semesters and one Summer Internship. The grading system is cumulative grading system. So very easy to secure good CGPA. They have online resources available to study. College gives opportunity through many Clubs and Events. The choosen one will grow here.
Placement Experience
The college isn't focusing on Internship which was a challenge. People get their internship on their own, just because college wasn't able to bring companies for internships. Out 750 only 350 were placed for their summer internships. And the average stipend was zero. Even, I did my 3 months of internship for just 600 rupees. The internship makes a very good impact in the final placements. College brought 150 plus companies with the average CTC of 4 lakhs or more, but the same could have been better, if the internship was good. Still, I won't regret for that. As mentioned before, I am a Selfmade man. I came to Mumbai to make something on my own and I did the same on my professional career. I got selected in a company that I didn't like but I was pressurized to join. Later I made it simple and decided my career and now I am somewhere I love with a better CTC than many of my colleagues. So it's all about the journey we decide. In my batch the placement was 90% and out of the rest 80,35 went for their family business. Rest were placed through off campus.
College Events
There are 20 clubs of different domains like Finance, Marketing, HR, Operations, IT, Entrepreneurship, Gaming, Acting, Dancing, Events etc. So every month at least 4 events would be there within the college through any of the 5 to 6 clubs. Other than this there would be 3 to 4 inter college events in every 3 to 4 months gap. Luckily, I was the event coordinator dum head of my college. So I did my best to get the exposure of our events in colleges outside like IIT Bombay, KJ Somaiya, TISS etc. Our Annual Cultural Event was actually big with a footfall of 3000 to 5000 people every day for 2 days. We have given prize money in lakhs and it was excellent. I was feeling so lucky to be the part of the successful event.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure is Feasible. It's 3. 62 lakhs per annum for PGPM in any Domain. Other than this, IBS was offering a regular MBA under the guidelines of UGC to us by paying extra 50k only. And there is no Hostel facility. So you need to search your own place and settle there for 2 years. It's different than the other institutions. But, it's full of fun. You'll get to know Mumbai when you're out and you'll learn the life while you're in the college.
Fees and Financial Aid
No scholarship is there. You can avail loans, but Pvt. Banks give a faster loan than the PSBs. You need to apply and they give you the 100% of the course fees.
Campus Life
Out of 750,50% were from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan and rest 50% were there from all India. Gender ratio was 60% boys and 40% girls. People from all the religions were there. So in the college canteen, nonveg wasn't available. Only veg menu with eggs (If needed). As mentioned above,20 plus clubs were there. So competitions and events were something everyone was experiencing. So in labs, only IT lab was there with 50 plus systems for some lectures. There was a library with lakhs of books and journals. There was one canteen and one Auditorium. The space was actually less as the property was in a posh area in Mumbai. So accompanying 750 of our batch and 750 of our juniors were tough but we did it.
Hostel Facilities
No Hostel facility was there. So you need to search PGs or flatmates as per your feasibility and settle over there. Tough to accept, but the seniors would help you in this. I was helped by my seniors and we helped our juniors.
Alumni/Alumna
There is an Alumni network as IBSAF. More than 50000 Alumni are there and the network is very strong. Because, IBS Group arranges alumni meet twice a year in almost all big locations in India like Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Dubai, Delhi, Kolkata, Jaipur, Ahmedabad etc. As the initial start isn't that good, you won't get help from all the Alumni. Some are there to help you. With such challenges also we have many CEOs from IBS Mumbai.
Admission
First of all, like others, I have opted many entrances like CAT, MAT, IBSAT etc for MBA. I got shortlisted for GD PI in many colleges like XIMB, IMI Bhubaneswar, IBS All campuses etc. My choice was IBS Hyderabad over XIMB. But, being a middle class boy, I was bound to pay less and grow more. So I have chosen IBS Mumbai as my future. The process was based up on the performance in GD, PI and School level scores. This was actually challenging to crack the GD as I was very shy and I didn't have prepared for any type of GD. Still I managed my GD and PI was excellent. The panel was having 3 panelists in which one was an Alumnus and two were the faculties of IBS Hyderabad. I tried my best to answer all Technical and Career related questions and cracked a good final percentile of 90 percentile. Got selected for all the campuses of ICFAI Group, but I was able to choose Mumbai because of the M (Money) factor. To get into this college you need to be very good in communication and decision making.
Faculty
IBS Group is having an International recognition for their case studies. They are best after Havard University. So resources are there. It's upto the students, how they can grab it. Othher than this the faculties were highly qualified. 80% of the faculties are from colleges like IIM, IIT, JBIMS, SIMSREE, XIMB, XLRI and some foreign universities. Some guest faculties were also there who were at the top Management level of organizations like TATA, Godrej, Philips etc. Some were having a very good industry experience with CA qualification. So resources were there.
