Remarks

College is very good, student friendly with excellent academics and college management is good too. There is huge competition to get admission in this college as it is one of the finest medical colleges in the country and admission is purely on merit basis based on entrance exam.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Curriculum is good with 5 years of course containing total 14 major subjects, one can do research also while doing the course. Exam is of annual format, one has to give theory and practical exams at the end of the year. Each subject has two theory papers, practical exam and viva.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placement will not occur from the college but there is huge demand for doctors and you will get job easily as soon as you become a graduate. After final year, you have to do internships of one year which is mandatory for everyone to graduate. During internship, you will be posted in different departments on rotation basis.

College Events

3.5

Cultural fests are held every year, an intra college fest called chrysalis and an inter college fest called Cobalt Skies are held every year. In inter college fest, students from different colleges will come to participate. Not only medical colleges but other colleges too will participate in it.

Fee Structure And Facilities

As this is a government medical college, fee is less compared to private medical colleges. A fixed sum of money to be paid at the time of admission to first year and then a relatively less amount to be paid every semester and exam fee to be paid every year.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarships availed is of central government one from Ministry of Human Resource development (MHRD) which was 10000 per year ( now it is 20000 I think). During internship, you will be paid monthly stipend which was 20000 per month which is increased to 30000 from this year.

Campus Life

3.5

College has huge campus and it has library, digital library, students lounge, canteen. One will be posted in hospitals which are near the college namely Victoria hospital, Vani Vilas hospital, Minto eye hospital. They have huge campus too. Quizzes, debates etc are conducted frequently.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel is free for everyone but has to deposit some amount of money which is refundable. One has to pay mess bill every month. Hostel rooms are of sharing basis, commonly one room for two students. Mess bill on an average is of 5000 per month.

Alumni/Alumna

Senior students help juniors by motivating them and giving useful tips about studies and they teach juniors during clinical postings. Ragging is banned in college, teaching hospital and hostel. The college has alumni association which conducts quizzes, debates, workshops, lectures for students.

Admission

I wanted to become a doctor, got admission via Karnataka state counselling based on merit of entrance exam, once got admission order, I went to college for final admission process, as it is a government medical college, fee is less than private colleges.

Faculty

3.5

Faculty of this college are good with vast knowledge about the respective subject, they teach you both theory and clinical aspects and helps you to become a doctor. First year has only theory and lab practical classes and when you go to second year onwards you will have clinical postings also in hospitals.

Course Curriculum Overview:

curriculum is designed to be highly relevant and comprehensive for modern medical practice.Early Clinical Exposure is One of the strongest aspects of the curriculum is introducing students to patients in their very second year. The final year of the curriculum—the Compulsory Rotatory Residential Internship (CRRI) is effective it prepares students for the high-pressure environment of Indian healthcare, making them very capable of handling emergencies and outpatient departments (OPD ). Students feel that lectures are still too focused on passive PowerPoint presentations.Rigorous schedule, integrating "Life Skills" or "Stress Management" modules more formally into the foundation course would be helpful. The university exams (RGUHS) are generally fair but require a very high level of descriptive writing and practical precision.
