Remarks

Most of Lecturers were very incompetent. They hardly used to guide students about future opportunities. All they cared about completing syllabus even that they covered with very poor manner. I mean a guy with major in control system would teach us electrical machines and guy with major in electrical machines will teach some other subject.

Course Curriculum Overview

2

Pune University's Electrical engineering syllabus is vast compared to many other university's in our country. but still it was not enough to make industry ready engineers. many students had to join extra courses outside of college to make themselves ready for industries requirements. Our college tried to organise at least 2 industrial visits per semester. which was helpful to understand things practically that we learnt theoretically in our classroom. Also it gave us a small understanding of how industries work.

Placement Experience

1

During my time not even single core electrical company visited our college. as I remember only 2 IT companies(1)TCS 2) NTT DATA) visited our campus with placement of only 2 students from whole class!! (but now I hear good things from my juniors that many core companies along with IT companies are visiting our college campus and which have led to significant rise in placements). Steps for recruitment were usual. criteria to be eligible for drives was to have aggregate of 60%. and then you will have face to aptitude test then interview. Till our batch placement percentage was very low (just 5 to 8%). there was hardly any guidance related to placement to students. But now things have changed placement Percentage increased significantly to 40%.

College Events

3.5

Actually in our college every department used organise technical festival separately. Name of technical festival of our department was Electra. it was very poorly managed event with a very low participation from student side. Things were opposite for cultural event 'spandan'. it was very well organised with huge response from student side.

Fee Structure And Facilities

I was general category student so fess was 88000? which was lowest among all private colleges in pune. all the years I paid fees through demand draft. students could pay the fees in multiple attemps as well. There was no additional fees for my course. Yes college provided total transparency in the fees breakdown.

Fees and Financial Aid

I didn't take any education loan. I availed the Economical backward class scholarship it was a government scheme for Economically backward students of general category. Criteria for EBC scholarship have changed now. Our college used to continuously notify about scholarship. Under this scholarship I used to get the concession of half of my tuition fees for me it was around 37000. But to avail this scholarship you have to pay the full fees first then after 1 year you will get half of your tuition fees back as scholarship.

Campus Life

2.5

In my class 25% students were girls which is quite normal for electrical engineering branch in our country. but 80% of our Lecturers were female. almost 95 % classmates were Maharashtrian. A small village guy coming into metro city like Pune I was bit afraid of ragging culture like they show in movies but it was completely opposite here I hardly faced any discrimination due to my dark skin or my cast. and here girls were less in number but they were treated equally most of girls would mix with boys and participate in every activity with High enthusiasm. ethnicity, race, gender, economical status, politics were secondary things. Yeah but there was never discussion on sexual orientation which shows total ignorance towards LGBT community there need to more awareness about this topic so our youth can openly discuss such things.

Hostel Facilities

1.5

There was no boys hostel for our college. so we had to choose PG which was very costly due the location of our college. our college was in central areas of Pune city. so the average rental range was 2500 to 6000 ? per student per month(excluding mess cost ) depending upon the quality. Mess food used to cost around 2200 to 3500 ? per month.

Alumni/Alumna

A guy from our college had started a startup which was successful. So once in my 3rd year he had visited college and conducted a seminar in that seminar apart from his entrepreneurial journey he told us about how to build your CV which later helped me to build a CV and get a better job.

Admission

For me it was clear after my 10th that I was going to choose engineering over medical as I disliked Biology. I had not much good marks in entrance exam to get into government college so this college was the best option I had. I got admitted through cap round system. actually there are 3 cap rounds I stayed with my first round choice. Admission process was not that hard we just had to submit the important documents and pay the complete fees. (for those who could not arrange complete fees at single time there was provision of payment in 2 attempts).

Faculty

1

As far as I remember I have been taught by at least 15 to 20 lecturesrs. most of them were young with age between 25 to 30 with M tech qualification. Few of the experienced lecturers were PhD holder. And honestly most of younger lecturers were very incompetent even our class toppers had better knowledge than them. but experienced faculties were good in industrial as well therotical knowledge.

In Kit college their are some rules for placement drive. In 7th sem companies started to visit our college. During my placement my engineering percentage is around 70 and I am able to attend every drive. Once student get placement offer from one company that student is not allowed to apply next company which package is near to previous company. Placement in Kit college in my year is 70 to 75%. The unplaced students have decided to go for MS.

I choose this course because I have genuine interest in civil engineering. The faculty student ration is 1:50. Our faculties are well qualified they are master's degree holders in design and structural engineering. Some of them are PhD holders and many of them have done their master's from NIT and IIT. Term exams are scheduled after every 2 months. it is easy to pass because it consists of 30 marks only.
