Course Curriculum Overview
Our course curriculum is specially designed to boost your acting and theatre skills. You also learn designing and theatre management throughout the year. In the first year, you are introduced to the basics of acting, theatres, and designing. In the second year, you learn acting history and specialize in acting and theatres. In the third year, you continue your specialization. During the entire curriculum of 3 years, you are expected to learn and refine your acting and theatre skills.
Placement Experience
It's your choice, whether to choose to do theatres or start your own production in Mumbai. I chose to work for a theatre in starting and later joined a good production team. All in all, you are on your own.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure for the course is Rs. 5,730 which includes the tuition and admission fees. If you opt for a hostel, which is a usual choice, one needs to pay around 27K on a yearly basis. The entire fee structure is quite feasible.
Campus Life
Festivals are held throughout the year and everyone needs to participate. Let me tell you about Jashnebachpan, which is one of my favorites as we work with and for children. There are other such festivals like Bal Sangam, Bharat Rang Mahotsav, etc. There are also international theatres. We pay a lot of attention to our fitness, so it has its own importance among us.
Admission
The admission in NSD is quite tough as there are limited seats only, 27 seats every batch. There is a separate Entrance Exam for College, assuming you already have an undergraduate degree in any course. You need to have a minimum of 6 theatre experience and a recommendation letter from the theatre. You need to appear in the next phase after clearing the entrance which is a 5 days workshop where they will test your acting skills and filter out the rest. If you survived this, congrats you have a bright future in acting.
Faculty
The faculty is just great. They will guide you and refine you into a gem in acting industry. They might give recommendations, which are quite helpful in getting funds for your plays, or productions in future.
