Remarks
Studying in Bankura University is an experience in itself and students should make an informed decision while choosing a college for themselves keeping in mind what things are they looking for. The college is great however it needs to improve itself in some fields like placements and internship opportunities provided to students.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum has been designed phenomenally and is similar to what is being taught in Delhi University Colleges for this course. We have a variety of subjects to study like macro and micro economics, econometrics, etc. Plus we can also choose a subject (not related to the course) that we wish to know more about each semester which is very knowledgeable for the students. The course duration is 3 years and we have half yearly exams each semester.
Placement Experience
The placement and internship opportunities at our college are pretty stagnant and needs to be given a push. Only the best students with high academic score are able to notch a decent job. Rest of the students have to work very hard to get a job and generally have to look outside the college.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is pretty reasonable and we are charged Rs. 3,570 every year making a sum total of Rs. 10,710 for the whole program which is extremely affordable for each and every student. Some relaxations are also given to students belonging to low economic background.
Campus Life
Involvement in co-curricular activities by the students is humongous and all the students are extremely active in participating in such activities. The college hosts a number of events throughout the year in which students from various college participate and are able to win amazing prices. Thus, the college life is great at Bankura University.
Admission
I am currently pursuing B.A (Economics) from Bankura University and it has been one of the best decisions of my life. I got admission into this college on the basis of my class 12th result. The eligibility criteria to get an admission to any B.A(Hons.) course in this university is to have more than minimum required marks in the subject you want to pursue for bachelors. The admission process was quite smooth and I was asked to submit my provisional mark sheet for 10+2 along with some other specified documents.
Faculty
The faculty of the college is mind blowing. The teachers are disciplined and believe in taking regular classes. We are not only taught information from the books but are free to discuss about anything going on in the world. Our teachers try to make classes more productive by giving us real life examples of how an economy functions.
