Course Curriculum Overview

Course Curriculum is in accordance with Calcutta University. It is credit-based. Computer labs help in research work needed for semester projects. Ordinarily, odd semester-end examinations are held in December-January, and even semester-end examinations in June-July.

Placement Experience

Despite the good reputation of Calcutta University, campus placement is not the scene in my college. Companies do not come to our college, although the job fairs arranged by Calcutta University are open to us. Neither are internship opportunies provided for most of the courses.

Campus Life

There is a non-political Students' Union. They hold/celebrate events/festivals like Nabin Baran Utsav (Freshers' Welcome), Rakhi Bandhan Utsav, Annual Sports, Teacher's Day, Football Tournament, Milad-un-Nabi.

Admission

The admission is merit based. Therefore, when I passed my 12th boards with 92% in Arts, I had the opportunity to apply for BA Honours in Maheshtala College in Kolkata, and got into the merit list. BA Hons. has better subject combinations to offer thus I was inclined.

The varied faculty is very qualified. The specific professors for assigned courses are dedicated towards the students. Most of them carry multiple degrees necessary for teaching, alongside their name.

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

1. Students generally get eligible for campus placements from the 3rd semester of the M.Sc. course. 2. Deperments like Biotechnology,Botany,Zoology have placement support. 3. Companies coming to campus like TCS,Wipro,Deloitte,Biocon,Pfizer. 4. Deperments with strong placement cells secure 10-15 offers per company, depending on batch size. 5. 8-10LPA Highest package offered by Leading companies and 4-5LPA Average package offered by companies. 6. 60-80% of students getting placements. i am interested in Ph.D. programs for research positions.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
