Maheshtala College Review

Maheshtala College is situated in Kolkata, West Bengal, and offers 6 courses, and specialization. Courses are offered for science, commerce and arts. The campus is vast. This college is also helpful if youre pursing some other course while studying here.

A year has 2 semesters thus accordingly there are 2 semester-end exams. The course curriculum is credit based and is dependent on, apart from final exams, other things. Varied subject combinations are available. 80% of final score is assessed in semester-end exams, and the rest 20% includes projects, internal tests, and class participation.

The placement bit is not as impressive because most jobs available were for the level of 10+2 students. I am not aware of the situation now, but when I was studying here, I did not know of any internships. Even if there were, I had to pay attention on CA, thus I have no idea about stipend and work.

Fee structure is different for different courses, and various subject combinations offered. B.Com: ?2235- ?2410 In comparison to other colleges of the same level, our college is quite affordable, considering it offers science, commerce and arts.

There is a non-political Students' Union, which is voluntary. Students can join if they like. They hold events like Nabin Baran Utsav (Freshers' Welcome), Annual Sports, Teacher's Day, Football Tournament. They celebrate festivals of Milad-un-Nabi, Rakhi Bandhan Utsav, and much more.

Hostel facility is available. Ladies Hostel is funded by UGC's financial assistance. It is on sharing basis. In case of flooding demands and less number of rooms, PG can be found near the college campus at affordable rates.

I had scored 75% in 10+2, and was studying Commerce. Hence B.Com was the right choice for me. Also because I was pursuing CA along with college, so B.Com was not much of a stress. Admission process was a little lengthy but eventually, it was worth it.

The teachers are qualified in their subject and professional in nature. I can say on my part, that they lent their full support to me. I had some difficulties while also pursuing CA, but they helped me with important notes. Because of such caring teachers, I could very well balance my time doing both CA and college.
