Mahestala College

The format of my course was common structural CBCS of the university. The classes were in both English and Bengali. The course intergrates both Indian and Western philosophical ideologies. The classes include theory (5) x tutorial (1). Each course has 80 marks and minimum 80 classes.

My course was taught in a way that it prepared me for future job opportunities. The department was very helpful in finding job prospects in different sectors. Through various guidance and counselling by the faculty I was abled to find an appropriate job.

The fees structure of the course was quite feasible. For my course i had to pay 2,200 per year. With a total fees of around 10,000 or under the fees structure was quite helpful. For more concessions students could avail scholarships as well.

The college has been welcoming and very diverse. As for extra curricular activities, students could participate in Annual Sports meets, fests and other programs. There are also variety of seminars and workshops students can participate in. Other activites incluse excursions and outings arranged by individual department.

Though i have not personally used the hostel services, my friends have complimented the ladies hostel which was funded by financial assistance from the UGC. Students have talked about camaraderie and enjoyable experience of being in the hostel.

I got admission to the college based on my performance in 12th standard after submitting an application to the reception. After that my documents were checked and verified and i got a call back. The course i chose was exciting and interesting. And i enjoyed visiting the college at a previous time, so i submitted an application.

The faculty are easily accesible via phone and email. Associate Professor, Shampa Dasgupta has been a great help during my time there. Overall the faculty has been pleasant and dedicated. They are also approachable and helpful when you have doubts.
