Course Curriculum Overview
Courses are interesting, and pretty much on par with most colleges providing same degree. The topics are interesting and relevant, so it provides a good base for those attempting to actually learn from the course. Examinations are held on a regular basis, but often, there are delays in releasing results.
Placement Experience
Placement opportunities are few and far between. The statistics are improving every year, but there still aren't many positive views from my seniors regarding the placement scenario. Internships are better, as we are given support to do internships at reputed and good firms from across the country.
College Events
Trishul is a techfest held in our college every year around February or March. There are a number of events and workshops and many different things to do. There is participation from all over the state, and some from neighbouring states too.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is not too expensive. At 35,500 a year, a B.Tech degree at HNB Garhwal is much more affordable than most other options I considered during my application process. It is a central university and the infrastructure is good, so it is feasible to study here.
Campus Life
There are different extracurricular activities, from the cultural to the more sports-oriented. Many different sports are played, and there is widespread participation. The laboratory facilities could do with a few upgrades. There isn't any rampant discrimination based on gender or caste, and the gender ratio is healthy, around 60:40 in favour of male students.
Hostel Facilities
There are quite a few hostels on campus. Separate hostel buildings for male and female students, as you would find in almost any university throughout the country. Amenities are okay, although it varies from hostel to hostel. Some are pretty decent, while some are more disappointing. Friends do make hostel life enjoyable, however, and it isn't too expensive either.
Alumni/Alumna
The more successful of the alumni are an inspiration to look up to. The seniors are closer to home, and therefore, provide crucial insight and help about how to survive the college experience and do well.
Admission
I gave my JEE Mains in 2018 and applied here in centralised counselling. HNB Garhwal has a good reputation around here, and considering my rank, I got a seat at this university. I had a few other options, but its popularity swayed me
Faculty
Some of the faculty are attentive, helpful and always there for discussions. There are some of the faculty who aren't that involved, however. Overall, it is a mixed bag, with some good, some disappointing faculty members. There is no doubt that they qualified, however, but they're not always available.
