Course Curriculum Overview

B.tech has a course duration of four years and in these four years the first two years, the emphasis is on research and theory part. Students are also equipped with labs to make them future ready. Schedule is not as hectic.

Placement Experience

One area where the college has a scope of improvement is in the placement drive that colleg conducts. Studenta do get hired but many of them have to find job and internship opportunities themselves only.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The first year fees for the B.tech course is Rs 1 Lakh and 49 thousand. It is a bit expensive since not all students Can't afford such fees but then again there is an option of fee waiver for EWS category students.

Campus Life

Various cultural festivals and department activity are conducted by the students themselves. College has a no ragging policy and no such action will be tolerated in the college campus. There is an atmosphere of peace.

Admission

Usually for B.tech courses, admission is based on the score obtained in JEE main. However at SNU, examination conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam Board can also be seen as valid. The mode of application is online.

The faculty of the college is really supportive and helpful and the teachers are highly qualified. They are flexible as well when it comes to submission of assignments and there is not really a pressure on the students.

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Companies coming to campus like TCS,Wipro,Deloitte,Biocon,Pfizer. 4. Deperments with strong placement cells secure 10-15 offers per company, depending on batch size. 5. 8-10LPA Highest package offered by Leading companies and 4-5LPA Average package offered by companies. 6. 60-80% of students getting placements. i am interested in Ph.D. programs for research positions.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

Insights of SNU

There are a few private colleges present in Kolkata which provides biotechnology but in my opinion the labs of those colleges are not as well furnished as ours. There curriculum is little different than ours. I didn't apply to any other colleges apart from Snu for biotechnology I sat for an online exam .And I cleared the test. Once you get a call you visit the college campus meet the faculty and the faculty may take a type of interview session The addmission process is smooth. But sometimes the staff members of admission makes blunder. My classes were about to start from 17 August, but they called me during July( because she didn't know that biotechnology does not fall under para- medical and made a mistake and for her mistake I had to suffer as I'm not a resident of Kolkata)...Read More
