I took Punjab CET, which is conducted by Technical Dept of Punjab Govt. (It is not conducted any more)I scored 800 rank in Punjab, which gave me an easy admission in this college. This college was considered best in CET colleges in PunjabSince I did not have good score in AIEEE and IIT-JEE, this was obvious choice.
Course Curriculum Overview
It is divided into 8 semesters over 4 yearsIn 1st year you study a variety of subjects like Physics, Maths, ED, Chemistry, Electrical, Comp BasicsIn 2nd year more of computer subjects like Microprocessor, Database, C language, English writing, one language subjectIn 3rd year Automata, OS, C++, Database.
Internships Opportunities
There were no companies other than Naggaro for internship program. Scholars used to find their own internship company. This was one of major drawbackInternship was also not compulsory other than 6 month internship in final year.
Placement Experience
Placements were pretty good for talented scholars Recruiters with annual packageThe main recruiters were TCS (3.6 lakh), Accenture (3.8 lakh), Capgemini (about 4 lakh), Software AG (About 5 lakhs), Tech Mahindra (About 3 lakhs), Naggaro (About 4 lakhs), Amdocs(About 4 lakhs)The overall placement percentage was about 70 percent.
College Events
Since it was a university, there were a number of functions, events. Like youth fest, inter departmental competitions,zonal competitions even events where a no of universities participated. These include both the cultural and sports events.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure for one semester was almost INR 50000. There were no of schemes for fee waive and scholarships. Hostel fee was about 18000 per year excluding mess charges.
Fees and Financial Aid
The university have fee waiving offer, which can be availed if you are from low income household. Other options were scholarship from external sources esp for Sikh studentsNo loan facility is from University itself.
Campus Life
Gender ratio was about 60(boys) to 40 . As such there were no parties in boys hostel. There were frequent workshops, seminars, and festival celebrations esp Sikh observationsThe overall composition was heterogeneous. People from all spheres of life, mostly from north and central India. There were no establishments for elections.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel were decent The rooms were not so big, yet they accommodated 2 peopleThe PGs in neighbour area costed around 4000 per month excluding food. Hostel included mess, canteens, grounds, lawns, washer man service. Quality of food was not up to mark , but you can have a no of other eatery options in campus .
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network is not so strong and I have never heard of any successful alumni meet. The seniors who were in college were easy to approach and good guides but after I pass out there was not any such medium for interaction.
Exam Structure
Exams were held thrice a semester every two months, including final semester exams. There were enough days between two exams for preparations. Lab work was occasional. Other than ED labs the lab work was not hecticespecially in the penultimate year.
Faculty
Graduates are mostly taught by Ad-hoc professors or Assistant Professors. Since an avg institute the quality was bit compromising. Most of them were pass out from Local colleges and you will not hear alumni from reputed colleges.
